Actually, I can watch -- or used to ve able to -- women's tennis and could never watch half a set or whatever of men's tennis. I even tried playing a few times and (would never admit it to anyone I personally know) thought it was actually pretty fun. But I'm talking way back when they still wore panties under the skirts. Everything has gone to he'll. Nothing is sacred. FML
I'll watch women's boxing and women's MMA. A lot of the time they really go for it and there are rarely boring fights at the high levels imo. Yeah, sometimes the skill level can vary, but some of them really know what they're doing. Holly Holm's striking against Rousey was a thing of beauty. Lucia Rijker had some legit skills too. The Amanda Nunes / Chris Cyborg scrap was short but brutal indeed. I'll watch that
The only time Laila fought chicks her size was Jackie Frazier who was 40 friggin years old at the time. & broke Laila's nose ina back in forth contest. The other was a trailer park chick named Karen Bill 1-5. She dropped Laila, but was stopped the next round when the ref just seperated the 2 and called it for Laila (which is why she never includes that fight in her best of reel) This content is protected Her husband Yayha McClain told Ann she would have to sign with him & then avenge her loss to Mahfood, to which she did. Nothing else happened, so Ann was fortunate enough to find a guy who she could train (James Kirkland) SHe made more money managing him ina one fight, then she would have gotten for fighting Laila....for a million dollar purse. I can't find the whole interview, but out of 30 seconds it begins by saying Jackie sent Laila to the emergency room! This content is protected a 40 year old chick with no experience took a 20something the distance, then sent her to emergency.
I don't like it but this little Chinese girl is the best female boxer I've ever seen. There's another video on her channel where she's throwing kicks as well and she really is vicious. I felt sorry for her brother because she was visibly hurting him and she messed his leg up with a couple of kicks. This content is protected
It's ok and as far as I'm concerned anything that raises the profile of boxing in an increasingly MMA centric world is a good thing. However, the matchmaking is **** poor and needs to improve massively. If there's no real way of achieving that then a lot more work needs to be done on the grassroots level although boxing being boxing I'm sure this has the REAL priority level of somewhere near the colours of the ring ropes and the polymer of the plastic seating at ringside.
I like watching the best in any sport that I watch. Women are simply very far behind men when it comes to sport so there is no point in watching The Women's World Cup is being promoted a lot but these players are no better than 3rd rate Male players.
The great thing about boxing is the unexpected. The KO that could happen at anytime, people getting off the canvas to win, all-out wars, brutal knockouts etc... This simply doesn't happen in women's boxing, as they do not have the concussive power to deliver KOs which you see happen in the men's game. This takes away a huge element of the spectacle of watching a fight. Coupled with that, the depth in women's boxing is abysmal, so you will rarely see two top class and evenly matched females box. They need to get rid of half the weight divisions to make competitive fights. With these two elements missing, I find it difficult to see it catching on. People use the example of Rousey in MMA, but she had stopped everyone of her opponents in the first round bar one, prior to her defeat. Who is doing that in boxing? Most of the top women don't have a stoppage ratio of over 35% and that is in with some real mediocre opposition.
I agree a bit with what you are saying, but the women fighters in mma have got so good so quickly. I would back amanda nunes to just smash many top female fighters if she decided to Take up boxing, she punches hard af.
I don't like it much.fair play to them if they want to do it couple of good girls at the gym I go to . Not my cup of tea.
I'll second that, Amanda Nunes is a pleasure to watch, she really goes for it and that overhand right of hers is a ****ing piledriver: This content is protected This content is protected
