Quite possible. After all Tommy Morrison was also related to john Wayne, Harold Lloyd, Fred Astaire, Lou Costello And Charlie Chaplin. none of whom were blonde.

 

A lot of the best heavyweights are only American by birth. John L Sullivan, James Corbett, Bob Fitzsimmons, Gene Tunney, Max Baer, Jack Sharkey, Jim Braddock, Jersey Joe Walcott, Rocky Marciano, were born to immigrant parents who were native to other countries for generations.

I think even Mike Tyson’s mother was born in Jamaica.

Well Tommy's father was of Scottish heritage and Tommy did die his hair blonde at certain points of his career. Interestingly, Tommy never liked to be referred to as a 'Great White Hope' perhaps because his mom was Native American. I believe the John Wayne connection was media hype as well. He had a real rivalry with Joe Hipp likely due to their Native American backgrounds.

As posted above, Mom was full Arapaho and dad was of Scottish-American descent. This has been mentioned in articles and profiles of Tommy numerous times. It was not like he tried to really hide it but he did play up his Anglo features.

 

I don’t know how I missed that? After The john Wayne claim I guess must have dismissed anything else that came out about him.

 

Apparently his dad was a real rolling stone/wanderer/hustler type and his mom had her issues(can't remember if she did time but I seem to remember this) as well. Its been said that his older brother and him basically raised themselves.
