I use Cletos. Punchers glove so love the feeling of hitting the bag with them. They can be very snug at first and takes a long time to break in but they last a long time and are very sturdy gloves. Kinda pricey at 180 but cheaper than the higher end ones (Winnings, Grant, etc). I do want a pair of Winning though, they are like pillows, and that Japanese craftsmanship is top of the line.

Ya Winning is what I have and was using before I had to stop about a year ago due to reconstructive surgery on my right orbital bone. They really are excellent gloves. You listed a lot of good shouts, you really know your gloves, I appreciate the answers and effort you put into them. The new Everlast gloves -- especially as you mebtioned their MX-series -- are phenomenal too. I got a quick question for you -- you said you really like Cleto Reyes for bag work, are you talking about their trainers, the ones with the special foam that supposedly lasts 300 rounds? Cleto Reyes has always been my favorite brand but about 4 1/2 years ago I suffered a severe fracture in my right hand and got locked up 2 days later, so by the time the House of Corrections I was at sent me to the hospital to see about treatment options, 7 friggin weeks had passed and it had long since begun to heal. Ever since then ive stayed away from Reyes gloves, but I heard these new trainers actually provide you with great hand and wrist protection and have the typical Reyes quality and attention to detail. Ive never actually talked to someone personally that has actually tried them though, so if you have experience with them could you give me your input? Thanks again man, I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these posts.

Rivals -- IMO -- are very good gloves and AFAIK always get favorable reviews. Title is another good brand. As far as the hook and loop question you posed, personally my favorites have always been Cleto Reyes and Everlast. Twins, Fairtex, Rival, Ringside are some other brands. Good luck bud, I wish you the best in your search.

Leone 1947 White Edition 10Oz for everyday training. I really like the weight distribution on the knuckles.

Hey buddy, I really, REALLY hope this thread, discussion, or topic didnt offend you or leave you feeling bad. I dont do a good job of it, but I honestly try and make a concerted effort at being conscientious of others in regards to what I post and the last thing I want to do while posting on here is to truly offend someone or even indirectly post something that leaves anyone else feeling bad about anything. I really cant tell you how bad I feel right now, I mean literally I feel like I was punched in the stomach and got the wind knocked out of me. I really cant do anything without ****ing up, even when I ****ing try, **** man.

And to make it worse, you're a poster ive always liked and respected and you seem like a class act and really good, honest dude. **** man. Look, so many people from "the west" take so much for granted, ***** all day about everything, and think they have it bad, when in reality they have so much more than anyone truly needs but they just dont appreciate it. I definitely have my moments like that, and I'm sure most posters here do at some point or another. Then we come across something that really puts things in perspective.

hahahaha, no worries, dude. It's not that we couldnt aford the gloves. We actually could, it was just the politics of the gym, they gave us the trainig gloves, and we shared them, and I have always thought that it was something normal, that's all. That's the only gym I've trained in, so it was not until many years later that I realized that people did otherwise.

Plus, we didnt hit the bags using gloves, we used some kind of small gloves, that let the thumb out of the gloves, something like that:

    https://www.traininn.com/gimnasio-f...VyrztCh3EPgs1EAYYASABEgJlffD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

We only used gloves for sparring. Very beautiful gloves made of horse hair, like 16oz or so, huge brown gloves very similar to these ones

    https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ypoAAOSwopRYjhnB/s-l300.jpg

They were BEAUTIFUL. It was forbidden to hit the bags with them. They had like 6 pairs, and we all used them for sparring. I remember that there was a pair lacking of some padding in the left hand, we all run to take those ones hahahahha. Good old times, you know?

hahaha dont worry, it was not a problem of lack of money. I found sharing the gloves a bit disgusting, actually, when I first arrived to the gym, but I promise that you dont want to be the one saying "oh, man, I dont like to use other man's gloves" just before a sparring session with badasses who wanted to win the next qualification round for the amateur title of your country. You just think "puaagh!", put your better poker face, put the gloves on and try to show the other guy that the one who should be worried is him, and not you. And eventually you get used to it.

I still find it disgusting today, tbh. I never liked it. But I repeat that it will not be me the one saying that before a fight, or after, or whatever. You know, I'm as badass as you are, if not more, and if I'm not, I wont tell you.

Maybe now that I am old it would be different, but back then....

Haha, it's cool hearing other posters stories of their times in boxing and competing. Cuba? And ya bro, It does seem a little gross, but in the moment you're so focused on boxing and the task at hand that it probably didn't even register until you looked back on it. Good stuff bud.

A majority of the gyms I have been in had gloves that everyone used, with the sparring gloves, headgear, etc... locked up in a cabinet.

What is a good inexpensive pair of gloves for the heavy bag?
All I have is a pair of thinly padded deer skin work gloves, and a set of wrist wraps.
