Who were some of the best heavyweight fighters that weren’t from the United States?

Mark-Paul Gosselar (Saved by the Bell) is part Indonesian and I never really thought about that until he was older and stopped dying his hair. His Euro-Asian features were always hiding in plain sight. I do agree that Joseph Parker would definitely pass for Caucasian if he had lighter hair and was clean shaven. Tommy's look changed dramatically when he lost his hair and was sporting a beard. Almost unrecognizable from the "All American Boy" of just a few years before.

 

Michael Dokes, Mike Weaver, James Smith, Greg Page and Phil Jackson would all disagree.

 

Morrison was definitely sandy haired before he dyed his hair blonde. The guy looked Dutch/ Danish and could pass for that without dying his hair. He looked like Brian Nielsen. even if Tommys mother was Native American you would never tell. I think the genes of many natives have been watered down over the years.

 

Both held versions of the world title.

 

Yes he was, but in the middle of the heavyweights born outside the US.

 

I don't see them as great at world level but they were important players outside the US.

 

Not compared to the last 10 -20 years. Primo probably beats most of the guys not called Lewis or Klitschko.

 

Put him in with any champion of the last 20 years and he fits right in. win or lose.

Primo would be an elite fighter in any era. A big guy like that who could do 15 good rounds?

 

Maybe Fury would, but Primo would still give him a handful. Anybody who could not nail Primo to the floor would be in trouble. And that’s about 90% among the top heavyweights of the last 20 years. Primo had So much pace, so strong, so awkward and was so effective. He boxed rather well at times.
People forget this.

The clumsy light punching stuff applied only against smaller guys who were faster, but watch him against campolo. The leverage he found so difficult to use against fast nimble guys was applied effortlessly against men nearer to his size. Campolo was no bum, he beat Arturo Godoy. Primo obliterated him.
