Cobb had a hell of a chin, would it stand up against a peak Brown Bomber?

As good as Cobb's chin was i think Louis would carve him up over 15. Picture Louis landing anywhere near the amount of shots Larry did. I just don't think anyone, even Cobb could survive that.

I doubt it ,taking Holmes lazer like jab and some of his right crosses is rather different to continuously absorbing Louis's deadly combinations. At some point I think Joe would floor him and after a painful ,and protracted softening up process, Randy would probably have been rescued by any referee not named DeSade.

Louis KO-ed many very durable fighters. Cobb didn't have any defense so I don't see him sustaining beating.

Braddock, Godoy, Baer and Paulino had all terrific chins and were better defensively than Cobb and all got stopped.

I don't see it. As others have said, Larry is not on the same tier as Louis.

Similarly, although Shavers hit harder than Louis shot for shot most likely, there's a big difference between eating one bomb at a time, compared to enduring the deadliest combinations in the history of the division. And its not like Louis would punch himself out.

I'm sure Tex would've had a few **** funny quotes at the ready during the fight, after it and during the ambulance ride in between.

"Turns out I'm a Brown Bomber too. Every time he hit me to the ribs I bombed a brown one down the inside leg of my trunks. He never actually knocked me out in the end, I slipped on a turd and fainted from the smell."

    Gad that's a cool question.

Naw. Louis was too persistent with that right, and while it wasn't Shavers' atom bomb it could be ranked with Frazier's hook. And though Larry was a very good finisher, Louis could be as creepily mechanical as Foreman when someone was hurt (just a whole lot faster).

    Cobb out in 10, max.

"Why didnt they give me any rounds? The guy who controls the pace of the action and has effective aggression should get the nod, right? Well I set the pace and the tone by consistently getting nailed in the same place over and over. You have to give me some credit for sticking to a game plan. I was hoping his hands would give out first"--Cobb in a post fight interview.

No..Even though Holmes is every bit as good as Louis if not better depending on how I feel that day. Larry was pretty content on beating him silly with the best left jab in Boxing history. Louis hit harder and would have looked for the KO and gotten it.

Cobb was a wide open target. Against the best Louis would land multiple KO blows in rapid succession. I don’t see the bout going more than five rounds. No wide open chin can take 3, 4 or 5 bombs in rapid succession.

Chin alone won't get you to the final bell against Louis.

Chin plus some frustrating qualities, and perhaps you have a chance.
