Klitschko, outboxed in large stretches, floored heavily and lucky klitschko has no killer instinct, gassed half the fight an won by having a slightly better gas tank than a 41 year old Takam, plodded, one note dull performance, power looked overrated Parker - Refgate dull patty cake patty cake fight Povetkin - outboxed and rocking and rolling vs a old man many years past prime.
So following the Klitschko and Povetkin fights, you turned the TV off feeling both were “lacklustre” performances? Behave
They were exciting fights but Joshua didn't look like the unbeatable prime ATG that he was being sold as, far from it.
Don’t blame Hearn for people being thick and not having a brain big enough to see through it. It was obvious Joshua was super limited from early on. He’d also had luck. However, I had started worrying there was a strong chance he’d go his career unbeaten. simply because the division is poor and I never thought he’d fight Fury. The likes of Hearn and any con man in general can only succeed if there are stupid people susceptible to their crap. To call him a con man is wrong he’s just cashed in by doing an absolute number on mugs. The mugs think it’s great though so everyone’s happy. He’s supplying them with what they want to see an ‘absolute monster’ knock out an over matched opponent. It must be so easy to make a killing with the resources Hearn has and the band wagon society he lives in.
People actually love him for this because having these type of people at boxing is good for the sport apparently. Give me a British title fight at a small hall with mainly Middle Aged men any day. As you say you can’t blame him though. It’s also given people like me a bad name. I’m beer swilling football fan. But I at least know my arse from my elbow when it comes to boxing (probably debatable ) haha. I don’t have social media and have genuinely never taken a picture of myself in my life. These types are giving everyone a bad name haha!!
He didn't have myself (and many many others) believing that at all. Joshua probably deserved to be rated #1 by default a year or two ago (with Fury on hiatus and Wilder feasting on too many bums) but that wasn't exactly clear cut and certainly hadn't proven himself "the best". Many of us were saying he was a KO waiting to happen for the last 2 years. Look, IF Joshua comes back and knocks Ruiz this year, he AGAIN arguably would have a good case to be rated #1 again, and Eddie Hearn will probably have you believing anything again. But there's a difference between "#1 rating" and being the PROVEN BEST ... and then being invincible is another thing again. Hearn made people believe all 3 things were the same and written in stone as per Anthony Joshua.
He’s a creep in my eyes and loves his own hype BUT he has transformed boxing in recent years and without him we would have had to suffer the Warren dross train and probably lost TV money for boxing as a whole forever. The haters can’t deny he’s done his bit for boxers in general as he’s brought the money back into the game. Yes he’s a BS conman bla bla bla but I personally think he’s the lesser of all evils in the British promoters scene. In the matter of his hype if AJ just think if Warren had AJ what BS would have come out of his mouth!!! AJ might have had his first title fight about now too. I’m comparing with Warren not because I hate Warren more but it’s the only alternative other than Hearn in the UK.
None of the heavyweights at the minute look like unbeatable all time greats. Promoters will sell them as such though.
Outside of AJ I don't think people were buying though I know a lot of people who were already saying AJ was better than Lennox was
The Americans aren't buying it with Wilder Most Brits bought it with AJ and are starting to now with Fury.
He's very good at what he does but his attempt at global domination has fallen at the first hurdle. He was also helped with a very good stable of UK fighters but even that's dried up now, with his latest batch of young proteges struggling to even get European straps. He'd stick his Grandma in with a prime Mike Tyson if he could make it PPV and he'd even convince the casuals Grandma Hearn is 'quite tasty at Bingo night' and could 'old woman young Iron Mike.'
This forum if full of experts after the event - Rivas vs Joshua being a prime example. Don’t remember anyone giving Rivas a chance prior to the fight - yet afterwards - Rivas talked up as the next big thing - Joshua the worst heavyweight champion since Herbie Hide ... & if he wins the rematch, it’ll be down to all the expertise gained from this forum - coming in lighter (heard that 100 times) ... being less complacent ... utilising his jab ... or because the refs been chosen by Hearn.
