Does anyone else find it weird that AJ hires a trainer known for training footballers for his Strength & Conditioning?

Anytime I've seen clips of this guy working with AJ he seems be using techniques not necessarily catered specifically towards boxing.

**** like waving a towel in-between AJ jabbing. Bouncing tennis balls around the ring for AJ to pick up etc. It's like he makes up what he thinks looks good but in reality it's not beneficial to a boxer.

From what I know Jamie has had no real experience of working with a boxer. The strength/conditioning/stamina needed for Boxing is entirely different to what's needed in football.

Is this type of training one of the reasons why AJ gasses so badly? A couple of decent shots to the body and AJ is blowing. A decent shot to the head and AJ is blowing. A 20 second burst of punches and AJ is blowing.

    What are your thoughts?

His videos are doing the opposite of that they are intended for.

Meant to make him look good etc but they really don’t.

He needs to disappear and go and learn how to box and loose some muscle

Yeah the waving of a towel in between throwing a jab, like wtf is this basic **** lol. It's completely pointless.

Thanks for stating the obvious and not adding anything to the discussion.

Thanks for the pointless thread you made because you watched a few Instagram clips and made a load of assumptions.

He needs to lose some muscle? That’s 101 time I’ve heard that now ;)
... I would laugh my head off if he came in heavier and knocked Ruiz clean out first round!

Wouldn’t change the fact that with less muscle he’ll have more stamina and be lighter on his feet.

Like I say - a lot of experts after the event.
I just think it’d be funny if he actually came in a similar weight and knocked Ruiz out first round - in the REMATCH.
I’m sure he will be lighter, practically every member on here has advised Joshua on that, and I’m sure his team have taken the advise on board - but don’t be surprised if it’s not by a huge amount. Against Ruiz’s high energy and hand speed, a points win for Joshua isn’t likely - maybe putting all his eggs in one basket and going for an early KO isn’t such s bad idea.

Do you know what I think would be good training for boxing?

    Boxing

Forget running backwards on a treadmill and sellotaping a tennis ball to your ass

Get in the ring, move around, spar, clinch up and try push the other guy where you want him, do the Mits, hit the bag

    Not rocket science here.

You don't think Joshua does all that?
