I think it's a good fight but it sends out the wrong message about ped abuse. Fury slapped the guy around in sparring years ago and sees it as a straightforward win, one he can shift more tickets for than Schwartz.
Fury/Miller could be next. Arum denied this in a recent interview but who else good he will fight? I actualy would favour Miller in this fight due to his workrate and power. Fury never a power puncher so I doubt he would hurt Miller. Fury is overrated anyways but I'ms still inetersted to see who wins. I'm eager too se for how long Fury will stay undefeated. He was lucky to come away with a draw against Wilder, Wilder showed his chin once again. If Fury stays unefeated this year I predict great fight against Wilder/Ortiz winner. But I have doubts Fury staying undefeated if he faces quality opposition.
I wonder for how long Arum will have Vianello as his fighter. I bet he will ditch him after few fights just like Goerge Arias and others.
I'm disappointed that Hrgovic is fighting Mario Heredia next. I was hoping they'd find him a more meaningful opponent.
Yep. Especially the way Hrgović was talking I was expecting someone at least on the level of a Dimitrenko and the like. Heredia’s a high level journeyman to be sure- capable of separating legitimate prospects from the rest, but Hrgović imo has already proven he clearly belongs in that category.
He was only down in one fight, and it w as flash variety in his debut. How do we know he is chinny? Small, yes. Can hit with power? Yes. And with Speed? Yes. He comes to fight. Boxing needs good regional talents. I say give him a shot and see how far he can go.
Does anyone know the plans for broadcasting Whyte-Rivas outside of the UK? Since it was announced on a DAZN card I just assumed it would be on there, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case.
I often think that with some fighters, Dychko is another, as long as they are active at this stage, maybe 5 fights a year ... it is an advantage to build up their numbers. Someone like Usyk doesn't need it. From someone from a nation without a lot of purchasing power behind it, such fighters kind of need the 18-0 or 20-0 against their name for cred with casuals when they do step up against big name opposition (unless of course they have an Olympic Gold). We've heard of him, but the average sports fan who engages (pays money for) boxing periodically, likely hasn't as yet.
“I’m looking forward to fighting Mario Heredia in Mexico,” said Hrgovic. “I’m expecting a good fight and I will train hard for him like I do for every opponent. “Mexico is not a new place for me if you look at my amateur career. I have already fought twice in Mexico in the World Series of Boxing back in 2013 and 2014, and both fights I won, so I’m really looking forward to fighting there again. “I was very satisfied with how my first fight for DAZN in American went. It couldn’t have gone better for me really. I introduced myself in a special way. “Gregory Corbin was a tough fighter and nobody expected a KO in the first-round. I showed the American audience what they can expect in my upcoming fights. I was only in the ring 60 seconds last time. We will see how much time I spend in the ring this time. I don’t want to underestimate anybody. “I had three weeks off after my last fight and it was good to rest and recharge my batteries. I have already started my camp in Zagreb and will continue in Miami. I train hard in Zagreb with Yousef Hassan and Igor Cordas, while Pedro Diaz is waiting for me in Miami with my final tactics. “I’m excited to fight in front of the Mexican fans. I know they are huge boxing fanatics and I'm sure they will appreciate my style, no doubt about that.” “Following his devastating KO win over Gregory Corbin, we’re excited to see Filip back in the ring,” said promoter Nisse Sauerland. “We’ve said for a long time that he is the future of the heavyweight division and people are now starting to take notice. His World title charge continues on August 24 in Mexico, where fight fans can expect another show stealing performance.”
Under the radar heavyweight prospects to keep eye on: Bakhodyr Jalolov-heavyweight with ko power in both hands. Always tries to counter his opponent with fast, precise punches. Not the fastest of heavyweights but to underestimate his power would be mistake. Lukas Rozansky- fast all around movement for men of his size. Imprresive performance against Ugonoh. He sursprised Ugonoh with his movement, power and hand speed. I bet this is not the last upset he brings. Igor Shevadzutskiy-another big heavyweight who made his pro debut just recently. Chin and size is one of his main atributes with power helping him as well. I look forward to his future fights. Another heavyweight to keep eye on. Ruslan Mursatyev-recently came back with ko victory over Danny Williams. He showed his power in this fight once again. Despite his age you expect him to do big things. Another power puncher coming trough.
