I saw a lot of fighters getting knocked out after they taunted. Just watch it in youtube "When Taunting Goes Wrong." Sometimes trying to entertain the crowd or make them laugh can cost you the fight.
Sam Maxwell ironing out Sabri Sediri after getting taunted and showboated on by Sediri is probably the best example from recent times: This content is protected
I don't mind it if the fighter is trying to get under the other guy's skin and lure him into mistakes. I do mind it against an overmatched opponent or one that is already well beaten. Either way, I love it when it goes wrong!
Well, if you use it tactically, it can work just fine. But to showboat and taunt just for the sake of it... yeah, asking for trouble. Hamed used taunts to draw his opponents in and then counter. Everything was calculated. Sediri was just being a twat and karma got him real good.
During the Errol Spence fight with Chris Van Heerdan the commentators mentioned his trainer had instructed him anytime someone show boats and goads him he should punch back soon as they do it, catch them off guard while their mind isnt 100% on the fight. You don't get no credit if you pull it off but if you get caught.... Different story.
That much is obvious, but his level of showboating and arrogance in the ring he seems to think so, and that's how Sky are billing him
One of the best is Robbie Peden Vs Nate Campbell, makes me laugh every time I see it. Campbell has some sort of complete meltdown, every time I watch it I think "what the hell was he thinking".. it never makes any sort of sense to me.
Although i'm not strictly sure it was "taunting", Pedraza/Davis was one of the strangest ones i've seen in recent years. Pedraza, losing the fight, starts shouting and making weird noises at Davis before being KO'd....will never fully understand Pedraza's showing that night
Yes, and especially don't be an axehole and taunt overmatched and handpicked opponents. Cuz sometimes u gon get got fo dis.
Wasn't it maxwell most recently knocked down, down on the scorecards. 12th round his opponent taunts him and then maxwell irons him out. Practically nicking the win
All that doofus had to do was play it safe and see out the round, and he would've picked up the win. So near ... and yet, so far away.
