I'm trying to develop a style of fighting based on high pressure, I have short reach but I have fast hands and I can punch a little, the problem is that most of the people I spar sooner or later they end going backward (even if they are better than me and I'm getting a bit outboxed), but some people are just too tough to take a step back, even if I hit them hard, I don't have a good inside game, I'm improving it, but it's difficult for me to go toe to toe with those people, so instead, I use the jab and straight punches and go backward myself. My question is, how can I push those people backwards? Any advices?

Use pivots and angles. When you are inside pivot to left or right and punch from angle. When you pivot, they will also have to pivot to adjust, hit them while they are adjusting.

Also you can use feints and jabs, f.e. jab to body with imediately following with shot to the head, cross or overhand.

These are few things what you can try, but of course you have a lot of other options..

Thank you! I'll try that when I resume boxing again in autumn since summer and heat have killed the desire of practicing any sport outside the water :zplayita:

With power, or a jab a target that makes people back off like the eyes. For an old school trick, develop a knack for hitting people when they move their feet.

Work on the power, and the inside game where shorter arms with fast hands might be an asset.

Without film, it's hard to say, but you might need a chin tucked high guard style an build a slip and duck defense around it with a counter punch hook.

And to do this your going to need to spend a lot of energy.re

Many people say I want box like this or that, but the truth is your body type and energy is a better choice to find your style.

A high-pressure fighter needs some power to be successful.
