Why is Calzaghe not being heavily critized for blatently ducking Pavlik?

Calzaghe is getting plenty of stick, quite rightly.

He should be fighting Pavlik, in my opinion he would beat Pavlik.

Beating up on an old Jones does nothing for Calzaghe's status.

Undisputed middleweight champion, one of the highest regarded active fighters right now, undefeated and carries some serious power and ability to take a punch. Enough to beat Calzaghe?, definitely not in my opinion, I'll pick Calzaghe by late TKO or clear UD BUT it's still a far better fight than Jones who's obviously beyond shot.

No it wasn't done to death, that's nonsense man. Jones wanted to take that fight and Calzaghe wanted Jones to fly over to Wales for it. The top man in the division was Toney and Jones took him on in his very first fight at the division, you think he'll be scared to death from Calzaghe?, also I remember Calzaghe being injured and postponing whatever talks they had regarding it. You think Jones would wait?, no thanks, he moved up and dominated another division, what was Calzaghe doing exactly to be worth anything?, if he called the man out TO DEATH as you claim then people would've heard about it and it would've been mentioned countless times which it WASN'T. Hell, Jeff Lacy had to run after Joe over and over till HE got that fight done, why didn't Joe do something similar to that for Jones/Hopkins/Toney/Tarver/Johnson and many others?

There are many fighters you could name, you just refuse to look deep enough and Calzaghe's excuses for pushing those fights aside are very clear for ones that refuse to ignore it.

Jones Jr. is gonna have 90% of ESB on his nut sack when he defeats's Calzaghe.
All the doubter's are going to owe Roy an Appollogy. (Roy's style is a no brainer here)
[Pavlik fight would be a much easy fight for Joe than a Jones Jr. fight]

Was mentioned after all of Calzaghe's fights. You just didn't watch any of them. And, no, I don't think Jones was scared of Calzaghe, how ridiculous. I think he correctly evaluated the risk/reward in that scenario. Anyway, I think I'll take Roy Jones' words on what his thoughts were at the time over yours.

Are there? Oh well, maybe someone will name some of them one of these days.

I am a huge, huge Roy Jones fan.

If you cannot see how Jones has declined primaraly in the footspeed/reflex department as well as his stamina issues, could beat Calzaghe when he throw's so many punch's per fight.

Calzaghe also has a good chin so he is going to be very hard to KO.

Don't get me wrong I would love for Roy to spark Calzaghe, but it is not going to happen....:-(

scar I think you know pretty well how it works, do you think in 20 years they will remember Joe beating Jones who was an ATG or a guy who is a champ right now but can loose at anytime and be considered a overhyped fighter. thats how it goes with boxing, history is sometimes ****ed up.

Jones words was that he had far better options than Calzaghe, clearly meaning that Calzaghe had a list of stuff to consider(when he obviously couldn't afford it) if they wanted that fight to happen. One of the options was to wait with crossed fingers for Calzaghe to recover from everlasting injuries like Lacy did and Roy didn't really have the time nor patience and his dominance over the Light Heavyweight division is the proof, anything from Calzaghe's side?
The reason behind it in my opinion is pretty simple, Roy would've sliced him to pieces.

Unlike you, I wouldn't want to rely on other people to name them for me. If all fails Google and Boxrec to the bookmark list I guess. :good

That's 100% true and I never denied it, mentioned it in every post related to this. Though I can't really back it up, especially when it comes from someone who made a CAREER doing this.

Roy is an all-time favorite of mine, he just CAN'T win this fight right now. He lacks the movement, speed, stamina and almost everything worth mentioning. Roy will fight for probably 1 round or 2 in the middle of the ring then go to the ropes, he did it against Trinidad for God's sake. He's finished and if he wasn't then Calzaghe would've developed yet another injury to postpone it.

I'm with you on that, but the worst in this is that JC had the talent to beat a lot of the guys of the late 90s (appart from RJJ) I think he could well be ranked an ATG but ****ed up pretty much his chances

No JC didn't have the talent to fight any of the big guys in the 90s, that is why he didn't.
