Why not answer my question? If Floyd was an in the pocket fighter, surely the first Castillo fight would show his mastery of it, no?
Pimp C, this **** boggles me. It's not hard to see at all, but i guess that's how u see who's a casual fan of boxing versus a true boxing fan lol
First off, u need to read what i said first. I never said he was a pocket fighter. Do u even know what the topic of this post is?
I urge people to watch some Marlon Starling fights if they're looking for great defensive pocket fighters. Starling was a great counter puncher and in-fighter when he was on serious mode. I only wish there was still videos of Starling against Mayweather Sr. where he displayed excellent defensive inside fighting.
And yes, Floyd Mayweather Jr. IS definitely a great in-fighter defensively. I'm not sure why people don't see that. Watch his fight against Ndou.
Exactly, best defensive fighter while in pocket. It didn't say who's the best pocket fighter. This is about defense, and Mayweather is one of the best defensive pocket fighters to fight.
Can you please expand more on the Castillo fight? Surely with such a swarming opponent the in the pocket defense would be useful, no?
Floyd, Whitaker and Locche for me. Whitaker looked like he was in the matrix at times. Inside and out I'd say Floyd by a mile though. He wasn't as flashy with his footwork as Pernell but Mayweather made a lot of great fighters look like amateurs with his defensive ability.
What is there to explain? Mayweather was slowed down in that fight after fracturing his hand. So he fought most of that fight with one hand. Plus we are talking Mayweather. Mayweather never fights all his fight the same. He does what works for that opponent because style makes fights. That's been the reason most opponents could never figure out how to fight or prepare for Mayweather.
Floyd utilizes distance in most of his fights. When he stands his ground it's typically with his back against the ropes, and that gives him the ability to lean back and rebound forward to clinch.
