6 million dollars plus perks which I dont understand how that works since it's a streaming app. 10 million for the rematch. Duva holding out for more money. Duva wants a DAZN deal for one fight even if Kovalev losses for at least 7 figures. before I am asked for a source: https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/27177686/kovalev-move-canelo-talks-hit-snag here it is.
I figured he want but they are targeting Kovalev because they think he is declining fast. this would be a true test to see if Kovalev is past it.
Out of all the boxing people Kovalev has had no problem kicking to the curb, the one who's probably screwed him the hardest is the one he's most loyal to. Funny how life works sometimes.
$6M minus Yarde's cut, minus RCC's compensation, minus Warren's compensation, minus Top Rank's cut... how much would that leave for Kovalev/Duva? And the $10M for the rematch, because that's certainly not guaranteed as Kova has to win and win big. We all know who gets the nod if the fight goes the distance.
I can’t remember her ****ing up a good deal but I remember her agreeing and negotiating a ****ing terrible deal. The ward rematch kovalev got no purse just upside on the ppv sales and the gate witch were both disappointing was a terrible idea especially seeing as ward got 6 mill guarantee and percentages on top of that.
This exposes a long list of posters on here who were sure that Canelo would only fight Kovalev at a catchweight. Now we know how wrong and delusional they are. Duva's comments also back up what I said a couple of days ago about how Canelo will go against De La Hoya's advice to make big fights : If HBO were still around, this would be an easier fight to make via PPV. But with DAZN involved and with Kovalev's mandatory situation it seems to have become a harder negotiation. Canelo is an absolute warrior to go against DLH's advice yet again and insist that he make Kovalev an offer for a fight at the full 175. I don't know how smart it is for Canelo to give away all that weight, but for Canelo to seek out this kind of challenge with no catchweight, with no draining of Kovalev, is to be commended.
Yep I think Kovalev might have pocketed less than 500k for that second fight.. Kovalev’s career is a big reason why fighters start sounding like managers after they get a belt.. He’s been vastly underpaid while fighting everyone that was willing to fight him..
It was a BS offer that was designed to be turned down flat. $6M for Kov is nonsense for a fight of this caliber.
