At one stage it seemed Sky had Warren by the nuts with finances. Has the power balance shifted to Warren, more show's plus Fury in America ?
No not really. Both are putting on **** poor shows still with the exception of this tonight. I do actually like the Whyte card too but just shouldn’t be PPV. The gap is closing though, make no mistake about it.
Warren has got some really good prospects. That is one thing he has always been good at, spotting talent.
He needs a few good looking lads on the books with crowd appeal and the gift of the gab., No homo and no offence, but there is a ceiling to how many wise-cracking travelers the general public will engage with. Also needs his own version of Koogan was to Eddie i.e. a paid shill parroting company lines and narratives on YT. In fact, Frank needs to up his "paid shill" game a fair bit actual on social media inc the Benson's of the world etc. Eddie showed how it can be done in in the 21st century, whether the old 80's and 90's habits can be replaced is another question. And if they can't, is he willing to pay talent who will? I somehow doubt it.
The Sly subscribers have had enough of Pony Boxing cards and pay per puddings. BT certainly on an upwards trajectory with Sly Sports boxthing going backwards down a steep hill.
I ditched Sky a good while back and after seeing some of the PPV stuff they have been serving up I am glad I did, they don't have many shows coming up big change from the days of regular weekend fights and prize fighter shows.
The Bill's on Sky have been terrible this year. In saying that I expect Hearn to up the anti before the year is out.
Sky boxing is going down quicker than Jordan’s knickers. As it stands today, BT are the guvnor’s, but Eddie if he applies himself is still capable of pulling it back round.
It’s easing up but I think Matchroom has deeper pockets and I would imagine a healthier balance sheet. I don’t think either promoter has probably broke even on a card yet this year. You would expect BT will be expecting more PPV level fights soon to recoup some money and I’m not sure Warren has the stable for it. Whilst Hearn can still cling onto AJ, Whyte Brook etc in the UK. One thing I do know though, there was no way that fight was selling out a stadium this year as Frank had planned. Only filled out half of the o2 7 months into the year.
I agree I said neither are turning a profit. I just think Hearns made a lot of money in recent years and has major deals in US and UK so can afford to run at a loss. Frank had to give BT dive return at some point.
Sounds like Fury won't have a real fight until February with the Wilder rematch set for then so really i'd say no. Sky has more 'big' fights but on ppv where as BT put their bigger names on without ppv as they are still building. If Dubious and Joyce could talk i'd suspect they'd be having a ppv fight this winter but they can't so they wont.
