Arguello by decision or late TKO in an absolutely ruinous war of attrition. Fenech looked as good as he ever did against Nelson and Arguello was a bit green at the weight and not as refined, accurate or patient as he was at 130, but he was quicker of hand and foot than at the higher weight. He was the bigger man too. Fenech is going to be coming in behind that tight guard and letting loose with blizzards of shots to bury Arguello under a wave of skilled but nasty activity with considerable success. I just think he'd ultimately get hit too many times with Arguellos best punches and eventually unravel in the championship rounds with the cards being close. Or Arguello could suddenly bang him out maybe, though I'm willing to give Jeff the benefit of the doubt there. His chin was rock before the disaster in the rematch with Nelson but I don't know if it was Arguello-proof.

Arguello. Fenech would have gone straight to him and Arguello was a very accurate, not to mention very hard puncher. I think Fenech's style would lead to him getting kayo'ed emphatically.

After a tough 3-4 early rds, Arguello would've destroyed Fenech in my opinion. Just a whole different caliber of fighter. Also just a bad match-up for the overly aggressive, but defensively reckless Fenech. Going forward into the precise , hard punching , technically sound Arguello isn't a recipe for success . Arguello's eventual knock -out of Fenech is as indelible as a high tide coming in on some costal area in the world. It's going to happen. I'd say in 8-9 rds at the most.

If Arguello catches him with the same shots he caught Pryor and Mancini with its over

I like this but I'm leaning on it going to the cards. Fenech never got tired. The man could probebly go over 20 rds. I'm taking Alexis by split decision

Arguello in 1! No way wide open Fenech survives that firepower.

I highly doubt Fenech is going the distance. He had a solid chin, but not some Chavez/Hagler granite chin. And we're talking about one of the greatest punchers in history... Fenech never faced anything like Arguello. Nelson was NOT Arguello.

And when discussing stamina, did ANY fighter have better stamina than Arguello?

These are 2 of my absolute AT Favorites. Arguello probably being my favorite fighter ever but no one I ever saw had a better motor than Fenech

Vincente Saldivar had a better motor than Fenech.

I wouldn't completely write Fenech off here. Arguello matured and was at his best a division up while Fenech was probably peak at Feather. He was a big strong feathertweight too. The Fenech who turned back Callejas would crowd Arguello in the trenches, lessening his power and get down and dirty with him.

I'm with John, Fenech was no joke at his best. A great fighter, and Arguello was extended by worse.
