Canelo fighting Kovalev will probably shave off a few years off his prime, win or lose. It would actually give GGG a better chance of winning the third fight if Kovalev tenderizes Canelo beforehand.
The rehydration clause is not letting the fighter come into the ring at the normal weight he fights at. So it just like a catch weight. It at "175" that's a technicality, but fight fans know that's a cheap move.
So , if DAZN is doing this to get subs don't they run the risk of burning the last sure thing they have? It's very shortsighted business, instead of using those 2 names to perhaps help elevate someone else in the fold they are ready to burn the candle at both ends. What other big fight do they have in their pocket at this point? Joshua is in supreme danger of being finished as a big draw if he can't redeem himself. If I were DAZN I'd have required G to take a better fight to help build the Canelo trilogy even bigger. Imagine him coming off a K.O. victory of a champion into a unification trilogy bout? And as much as guys hate it there is absolutely an A side B side situation. Canelo deserves to call the shots because he's the guy that does the numbers regardless of who you assume the better of the 2 is, that's just the way things work. To be completely honest you have the perfect display of why Canelo is the man and GGG isn't right in front of you. He fought the guys that upped his profile, and even after G still took on a guy like Jacobs and immediately went after Andrade. None of this I'll only fight a threat if it's one guy bs. I've never seen a guy attempting to unify a division get blocked by his own representation that I can remember.
I might agree with you that the two best "should" be what's best for boxing. But it is not. There is no bigger fight that DAZN can make than a GGG Canelo trilogy fight. It's just the way it is.
The answer is easy DAZN. Just order Canelo / GGG III & hold the fight in MSG NOT Vegas. GGG will be willing but Oscar Ginger & Bob Bennett wont. Its Gingers chance to prove he's the better man with NO CORRUPTION!!! I say he doesnt have the cojones to go against Vegas but DAZN may have him by the short & curlies
No. A catchweight and a rehydration clause are two different things. Theoretically, there can be a situation with a catchweight and a rehydration clause simultaneously.
You think mr Mexican style turned triple jab backfoot on fight night won the fight ? The second one ?
I would tend to agree with you but the fact that they are a huge billion size business lends me to think that they already thought of that. I don't think DAZN is just two guys making decisions on fights they want to see.
You're right. But it's still a way to unfairly influence a fight. Just like glove and ring size. It's a diva tactic.
Same here. If Alvarez managed to do it then someone like Yarde could as well. Kovalev is most definitely the better boxer, but who knows how far gone he really is.
