Matchrooms stable is seriously on the decline and over exposed atm due to them having to make up the numbers on DAZN shows. You look at them still wheeling out the likes of Brook, Crolla and Burns is indicative of this, another problem is that from 2016 Olympians I actually only rate about two of them Buatsi and Cordina. As already mentioned Hearn relied heavily on the 2012 Olympians I don't think he can do the same for the 'class' of 2016, it also sadly looks like Callum Smith will be going down the Kal Yafai route of taking pointless mandatory defences. As for Warren his biggest name Fury isn't really within his control anymore but that seems to have allowed him to really focus on the UK shows, I would not exactly say his stable is that strong but they aren't spreading them self thin with pointless fights state side. The BT fight nights have been far better in recent times in terms of quality and coverage.
For boxing content DAZN would be brilliant in the UK. However it’s hard walking away from SKY with the football.
Lol isn't it ***** how just a few months back we'd have had at least half a dozen posters by now with zombie accounts from 2013 all chirping up saying how great a deal DAZN was. How it was definitely a bargain, and definitely the future of sports broadcasting. Funny how they've gone quiet. Can't think why. In fact, there's been a considerable, noticeable drop in shills all round since a certain fighter got beat at the beginning of June. How strange.
Fair point I can see that makes Sky a huge draw for EPL footie fans. I only watch the BT sport Scottish stuff to be honest or take my kid to watch our local amateur side so that does me.
eddie's budget for forum trolling is spent, and he's scared of pouring more money into it just in case the AJ money train completely derails.
More than a hint of truth to that I feel you can almost feel the whole operation winding down. If Joshua rematch is delayed or not even made it's game over.
Barring cricket and International Rugby Sky Sports offer very little for me. That said Luton will be on sky a couple times next year but will hardly be a huge amount. BT have the MotoGP, Speedway, WRC, Premier Rugby, UFC and other Motor Sports. I would pay for a DAZN service but would not leave BT with their current offering. Cannot remember the last time I was excited for a Sky show. The Whyte card last year that turned out to be a Corker was a fluke really.
The thing that makes me laugh is people say the shilling on Sky and sky sports news, they work for a broadcaster who is selling a product and have worked out a way to sell that product to a casual market through hyping a fight. Any business is the same... look at John Rawlings on BT has become one of the most biased commentators around. It would be great to have unbiased opinions but show me a TV company in the world that has one. One quick example... This content is protected The problem Hearn has is he is likely working off the same budget as BT and Olympians Kelly, Okolie, Buatsi come at a premium. Whereas Frank can pay the likes of Yarde, Sharp, Edwards smaller purses and pack out cards. Neither promoter has had a couple of years with Warrington vs Galahad probably the biggest fight on non PPV besides Fury vs the two bin men he fought. Hearns lack of UK PPV stars has seen him rush through talent far quicker than necessary instead if giving guys like Kelly and Cheeseman rounds before then in at the deep end. Whereas Frank seems in no rush for PPV stars despit the pressure likely building in him. Hence why he’s been happy to throw Yarde into headliners against cabbies. Both men no they have no other competitors have the test will come if MTK continue to grow. I can see DAZN launching in the UK in 2021 when the matchroom deal comes up and in the year the next premier league rights packages come up. I think they will go for the package amazon won to show 20 games. When that happens Sky have two options leave Boxing or work with Matchroom on a reduced capacity. I can see Hearn having launched DAZN in Spain, Italy and Germany plus signing more Olympians doing a deal that allows MTK to have a few dates on Sky as a co promotion and WBSS on DAZN. He will then try to promise Sky and DAZN 2 PPV level fights each a year for instance one AJ fight each. Which then puts Warren in a position that he either has built enough stars by that point as the likes of Fury will only be fighting in the US on 4am PPVs or the fact Hearn would have 2 TV deals gives him the power to pay fighters big money. The next few years will be very interesting.
Hearn is over-reliant on these Olympians. Just because you've medalled in the amateurs doesn't always mean you're going to become a world champion star; Frankie Gavin and Audley Harrison being examples. The jury is still out on the likes of Kelly and Buatsi imo.
