Dubois may well have the highest ceiling here but I don't want to get carried away. He's still 21. He's got like a decade before he hits prime. 1) Whyte - Not his biggest fan in the world but he's the most proven of the current batch 2) Dubois - Contradicting myself a lot given my opening statement. Confusing myself too as I think someone like Chisora would be a horrible fight for him, despite me not rating Chisora much either 3) Joyce - H2H I actually think he beats Whyte, but I see someone like Dubois beating him 4) Hughie - He just doesn't seem to be getting any better. Had real high hopes when he was younger 5) Chisora - Winding down and has been past his best for a while. Style wise can be a bit of a problem still 6) Gorman - He will be low level again for a bit but I still think he can will be a good fighter. Euro level for sure, possibly a contender type. His head seemed to go in that fight and he'll need time to regroup. 10) Allen\Price - They're both garbage in honesty but I will watch every single David Price fight until he retires. Do not seek logic in these ratings for there is none
1. Hughie Fury 2. Big John Fury 3. Peter Fury 4. Shane Fury 5. Dillian Whyte 6. Joe Joyce 7. Dereck Chisora 8. Daniel Dubois
I don’t think he has. I think now is his prime. Look at Mike Tyson, how old was he when he hit his prime? Also when the new rankings come out he’s going to be in the top 15 with all the organisations and close to top 5 with the WBO. He’s young but I don’t think he’s got time if you understand what I mean! He’s climbed the rankings and is continuing to climb. He can’t really go back to British level or Euro bums now. It’s fringe world level and he’s not going to be able to flitter about there for 4/5 years he’s going to KO them all and be forced in to eliminators and mandatories. I think by the end of 2021 he will have his first world title fight. Aged 23 would that be?
Typically a HW won't reach prime until about 30 or so I'd say. We won't really know with him until it's happened though and I don't want to jump too far forward in saying he's prime now for beating another prospect, tempting as it may be. You're right though, it's going to be tough getting the right opponents now. Especially given how good he looked this weekend. I wonder if we might get Christian Hammer. He's recently iced a prospect and didn't disgrace himself against Ortiz in the least bit. 2021 is actually pretty realistic I suppose, assuming he doesn't lose en route of course. I really like him. British fighters tend to do my head in for the most part but I've actually found one I can get behind here. BREXIT MEANS BREXIT etc
This is my ranking based on how I think it would pan out if they all fought each other in a league type system.... Dubois- Whyte KO, Price KO, Joyce D, Allen KO, Gorman KO, H Fury D, Chisora KO Joyce- Whyte KO, Price KO, Allen D, H Fury D, Chisora D, Gorman D, Whyte- H Fury D, Chisora KO, Price KO, Allen D, Gorman D, H Fury- Allen D, Chisora D, Price D, Gorman D. Gorman- Allen D, Price KO Price- Allen KO Allen- Beats nobody in top 10. Just my subjective opinion and a couple of proven results ie. Whyte beating Chisora, Dubois beating Gorman. I’ve considered styles, skill, durability, gas tank etc. It is the heavyweights though so a single punch could change it. Just to add, I reckon H Fury makes them all look awful. I think he only loses to Joyce, Dubois and Whyte because of a lack of ring generalship and effective aggression in a Parker type defeat. I don’t believe they’d be able to land significantly on him.
Whyte is number 1 by a country mile Let's remember Dubios is operating at British level fs, even Chisora would be a close fight with him.
If it’s going off actual rankings then of course Whyte is the UK’s 3rd best heavyweight, but this is a subjective thread. Dubois has all the tools and is also quite mature with a good attitude. He’s an old head on young shoulders. I think him vs Whyte would be a fantastic fight, it’s who can establish the jab quicker. I give him the edge over Whyte because he also has knockout power with the straight right hand. Unlike Whyte, he doesn’t have to exchange hooks to knock his opponent out...he can fight a more disciplined fight. He doesn’t have to hook with a hooker.
I just don’t think Whyte has got (an effective) jab. Dubois would punish him from distance. Whyte’s only hope would be to try and get in close, drag him in to a brawl and chin check him.
That’s exactly what I meant, mate. Dubois doesn’t need to work in the pocket to knock an opponent out, Dillian does. That’s why I believe Dubois beats him.
Aw don't be ridiculous. His best win is Nathan Gorman FFS. He is a good prospect but to think he would beat guys like Chisora / Parker the now is ridiculous. Gorman was poor on Saturday you are getting caught up on the hype.
Who does Dubois struggle to deal with on Whyte’s cv? Parker would be a big test but let’s not make out Whyte beat him fair and square because he didn’t. Dubois deals with Chisora, Helenius, Allen, Lewison etc. If you want to talk about hype then that belongs closer to Whyte than it does with Dubois.
I see where you’re coming from but Dubois is still a relative novice and his best win is against a fellow novice who looked like he’d come straight from the pub. I have no doubt Dubois will reach the top of the division (whether that’s winning titles or fighting for them) but he has plenty of learning to do. In the long term he has the tools to beat guys like Dillian Whyte but at this stage I wouldn’t bet on it. Whyte has far more experience and one thing Dubois hasn’t been is difficult to hit... Currently, based on CV and current experience rather than potential I’d rank them as follows: 1) Whyte 2) Joyce 3) Dubois 4) H Fury 5) Allen/Price 6) Gorman
Whyte v Dubois would be interesting. Whyte would no doubt get wild, Lartey style, and that could play into DDD's hands, I'd like to see how Whyte would handle one of those bombs to the cranium during an exchange. Never going to happen though, shame.
