Miguel Cotto fought everyone in their prime and he was clean the entire time. He deserves more!

I greatly enjoyed watching Cotto fight but for me his entertainment value and ability to draw far outweighed his in ring ability which whilst considerable was a step below some of the truly top tier fighters he shared a generation/ring with.

Cotto was my favourite to watch fighter. I loved his style and his left hook was a thing of sheer beauty and brutality.

If you look up Cottos weigh ins on Fridays as a welterweight, half of them were not at the full limit. Lets not act like 145 is what made the difference in the fight. Thats a terrible way to excuse a loss. The fact of the matter is, Manny was faster with hands and feet and simply better a better fighter. Manny would win every single time they fought and the beating he put on Cotto for the twelve rounds proves it. Cottos best chance would be to knock him out early and Manny simply was too quick to stay in that range to get hit like that.

You lost me at the Cotto 1 fight. So did Cotto. He knew he'd been legitimately beaten down & forced to Quit by the better FIGHTER!!
Of course like all the others he joined in the ludicrous loaded gloves debacle they had to find a reason to duck him
Fight 2 was almost a carbon copy of Fight 1 except Tony was blind in one eye from round 2. It wasnt till Cotto started to wilt & Tony was still coming on strong that his NY doc stopped the fight . Not to save Tony's eye but to save Cotto QUITTING AGAIN!! He couldnt legitimately beat a one eyed opponent

Bro, I respect you for this. I've only heard one other Floyd fan admit that he was cheating, but he is as casual as it gets.

I mean Golovkin did duck Ward when it mattered and and now he’s cherry picking the Steve Rolls of the world hahaha. When a fighter puts in work in the early stages of their career they are allowed cherry pick their last few fights. You guys are giving GGG a pass for Vanes and Rolls are laughable

Agree 100% his best wins are over fighters who were severely injured and he lost every time he faced a healthy top fighter and won some robberies to boot.

If you want to be called a dominant Welterweight champion who stacks up historically you cannot be beaten within an inch of your life by a blown up Featherweight. You can't allow that to happen with that type of size advantage.

I can't imagine great Welterweights of the past in their prime losing to Manny Pacquiao. As great as Pacquiao was, he was just too small for somebody who's really that great of a Welterweight to send you flying all over the ring.

Cotto was a good fighter, can't deny that. I remember hearing Cotto fans always saying, Mayweather was ducking Cotto early on in his career, but that's actually false. It was the other way around. The truth was Cotto camp was ducking Mayweather. When Mayweather moved up to 140, he actually called out Tszyu, but that fight wasn't made due too Mayweather being on HBO at that time , and Tszyu was on Showtime. Back then, HBO was the cream of the crop in boxing. If a fight would be PPV, and u have two networks, HBO wouldn't allow Showtime to broadcast it because they would have to split the broadcasting money. So Showtime wasn't going for that and fights didn't get made back then between the two networks. Mayweather went on to fighting Ndou and Corley. After beating those two, Mayweather challenged Cotto. So Cotto's camp got Mayweather to fight Cotto's best friend/sparring and training partner, Henry Bruseles. Bruseles was used as a measuring stick since his style was the same exact copy of Cotto style. Of course he wasn't as good as Cotto, but this was there measuring stick. Mayweather destroyed Bruseles, and Cotto trainer, which was his uncle at the time said Cotto wasn't ready, so the fight wasn't made at that time. However i do agree that Cotto falls short compared to Mayweather and Pac as far as elite level.

I was applauding his willingness to fight the best, why would I care how many he beat?

I'll take a fighter daring to be great by actually taking on top tier competition on a consistent basis over the course of their careers, and losing more than he wins, over fighters milking their fans and ending their careers by being able to count the level of top tier fighters they fought on one hand.

And a big lmao at Cotto being 'scared' of Golovkin because he chose Canelo instead, while being in his 4th weightclass and one of his last years as a professional fighter.

Meanwhile, Golovkin is fighting the likes of (who was this last guy he fought I forgot his name) while desperately clinging to the hopes of a third Canelo payday, but ya what a ***** Cotto was for choosing Canelo instead of Golovkin.

    funny.
