First round against Povetkin Joshua was center ring controlling the fight with his jab. It was only late in the round Povetkin had some success. Ruiz dominated Joshua in round 1 and held center ring. He was literally walking him down. Watch both rounds again.
Watched a bit of the Hearn interview. Claims the reason for the delay in announcement is because they've had a couple of lucrative offers from venues in different countries in the last few days. He said one was US (probably Vegas) and from what I watched didn't say the second country. He did say that this country hasn't hosted a fight of this scale before.. I wonder if it is Nigeria. Joshua has said before he wants to fight there, he's been there this week and Okolie (Joshua's pal) has just a few minutes ago on Instagram posted saying the same. Intriguing idea, logistical nightmare though.
Yeah, but Ruiz was walking him down and held center ring, like you say. It's not like Joshua was doing anything radically different. He played the same "feeling out" tentative game against both of them. Against Povetkin he was stepping in and jumping back, playing very cautious. But Povetkin was kind of cautious too. It's just that Ruiz was a stronger/faster, more determined, heavier opponent than Povetkin (46 pounds heavier) and Joshua knew or sensed all that straight away, so conceded even more ground. That's how it looks to me.
Agreed, highly unlikely. But I think the offer is from there. Makes sense with the way Hearn talked about it. Possibly Middle East thinking about it.
Yeah but mate “Eddie Hearns said...” it’s entirely up to the chinny robot where the rematch happens Then “Eddie Hearns said...” the hold up in announcing the rematch is simply down to agreeing the venue When asked where the chinny robot wanted it to take place “Eddie Hearns said...” he’s not bothered he’ll fight anywhere, he even said to me why don’t you choose Ed 1 the hold up is solely down to venue 2 The venue choice is solely down to AJ 3 AJ doesn’t care where it happens “Eddie Hearns says...”
It should be in Mexico, just to see the look on a certain persons face when El Chapo pops up next to him through his latest tunnel!!!
Thanks for posting that. It was a really good insight, particularly behind the scenes. Once again, no excuses from the lad.
