Mundine was a fighter that could box , an was giving Ottke a boxing lessons , da main reason why he lost , is because he didn't listen to his father,s advice . Mundine's first pro fight he made over $ 110,000 grand . In this country U doin good if U get $4,000 for your first fight . Some have to sell 30 or 40 tickets for there pay . I know one fighter that sold tickets in his first 4 pro bout's , he quit after that , won 1 los 3 .
Yeah red a lot of fighters have done it tough.. I know Fenech and I think Hyder have had fighters do that. But having chats to guys who are privy to the finances of some of these cards, sometimes that's the only way to make them happen.
The great John Wayne Parr has signed a big fight in November and is making a boxing comeback. Anyone in the know got an idea of the opponent?
Haven't seen Mundine v Ottke for a while but I had Mundine just ahead on my card before the KO, I think with another year or 2 experience and some better conditioning and he could have beat him. It was the right match for Mundine at the wrong time as I always felt Ottke was there for the taking but he retired at the right time and i've even heard some talk about him among the best super-middleweights ever, so i guess all things considered it was a pretty good performance from Mundine who only had 10 fights
Mundine's problem is he wanted a big payday vs PBF so dropped down to a ridiculous weight to set that up. A gamble that ended badly
Even though the fight with Mundine makes no sense,there isn't any fighter who deserves a big payday more then JWP
Well it is a nothing fight but I guess at this juncture it is a fair fight both guys the same age and weight I was a fan of both in their primes so I will tune in.
I don't mind this if Mundine wants to continue fighting and he is fighting an older guy like Parr. I hate it when younger fighters like the Horn kid and the Tszyu bum are trying to get Mundine to financially support their families and pay their superannuation.

Mundine vs Parr will take place in Nov and will be at the more suitable weight of 75 kg for Mundine. The bout will be billed as the Aus version of Mayweather vs MacGregor. * SMH columnist and Ch 9 sports journalist Peter FitzSimons has lost his defamation liability case in the Supreme Court against Dr John O ' Neil who supervised the boxing match in 2017 between Mundine and Green costing Nine publishing $ 385 000. PF loss concerned a column in SMH in which he said the fight between Mundine and Green should have been stopped after Green was struck by a foul blow in the 1st rd , requiring medical examination. He wrote that Green was suffering from a bleeding brain and concussion but Judge Lucy McCallum found on the balance of probabilities this was not the case. Dr O ' Neil had argued the PF article had conveyed the imputation that he was incompetent , had negligently endangered Green's life by allowing him to continue when he had brain damage and was reckless in failing to stop the fight. This is poetic justice as PF has always adopted a anti Boxing and MMA stance and saying it should be banned when it is well known when on the field as a Rugby player he relished his role as enforcer and was a thug.
