Miguel Cotto fought everyone in their prime and he was clean the entire time. He deserves more!

Loaded gloves or not, what changed in the last rounds of the fight that saw the tide turn? Cotto running out of gas.

I'm just going to chime in that I'm no big Cotto fan but I felt and still feel the fight with Trout was infinitely closer than everyone makes it sound. I never rewatched it, so I could be well off here. But that is how I saw it. People act like Trout walked away with it. I don't feel that way. Close rounds, close fight.

People still salty about the Sergio fight though 75+% of everybody picked Sergio to win it and don't let anybody tell you "oh, well, we didn't know how bad Sergio's knee really was!" Yes, we did, as his operations (with inactivity and age) were known and it was known he trained in a hotel suite for the fight to avoid media. Cotto was the legitimate lineal MW champion, like him or not.

Some people just can't get over the pink socks, I guess...?

Great fighter, fought 'em all. If Cotto is the diva many say he is than we need more divas in boxing.

It turned much of the vocal forum radically against Cotto. He used to be universally celebrated until then. So, yeah, it's worth discussing when discussing Cotto's career.

    I'm talking about the rematch.

No definitely not. Scrutinizing resumes is a big part of being a boxing fan. I'm talking about going out of their way to disingenously diminish his accomplishments or unfairly criticizing his personality. He's got his detractors.

Great post! The Hall of Fame is full of fighters that are not true greats.

Yeah I don't see Cotto being saved by the ref at all. He hadn't taken much punishment in that fight and could have easily made it to the finish line

I don't hate Euro fighters, I hate Golovkin and Kovalev . I say the names for guys I dislike. Saying I hate European fighters is a blanket statement that's not true. I don't like guys from the former Soviet/neo Soviet Union. They are hype jobs that under deliver every damn time.

Oleksandr Usyk is the worlds best fighter. And he's from Ukraine. And all he did was go to everybody's back yard and show people that he has more skill and speed than everybody else does.
