No. His left hook was quite possibly the greatest punch in history so his right hand Is completely overshadowed and overlooked.
His right shoulder was messed so it was hard for him to throw a straight right to the head. But his right to the body and right uppercut were pretty brutal. His coup de grace was his left. But when you had a hook like that, where else would you go?
Like mentioned above he uses the rt hand to the solar plexus and under the heart very ofter with the occasional straigh cross. Very effective just overshadowed by that king of hooks.
Frazier wasn’t literally a one-arm fighter (then again, who is?) but he was pretty damn close, especially as far as elite fighters go.
So was Frazier naturally right handed, like he used to write with his right hand but he just developed to hit harder with his left?
It depended on his conditioning. When he showed up in shape he used his right hand a lot more, but when he showed up overweight, which he made a habit of in the 70’s he tended to over rely on his left hook.
Yeah, I was surprised to see that he used a somewhat more balanced offensive arsenal in that fight. Not exactly sure why he got away from fighting like that either.
I remember watching what was his 21st fight. He was 20-0 at the time with 18 KO's. They interviewed Durham who said that he had 9 KO's from the left hook and 9 from his right hand.
Not even close to that. We have someone in today HW class that is closer to one handed fighter and I wouldn't call even him that.
Can you source this please? Cause I've heard he never knocked anyone down with his right from a certain know-it-all.
