For me, its Ike, Leonard or Gans. I pick Ike. Would be very close IMO.

Burt Bienstock who posted here until in his 90's said he watched Ike in his prime and said he was the greatest lightweight he ever saw including Roberto.

Armstrong and Chavez purley for excitment and Whitaker because he's the only LW i'd personally give a shot at beating Duran and also because of the clash of styles.

I recall someone saying he was now not in great health and unable to post . I've seen a few of his post s,a very good Link to the past , that very few have . It's a shame he's gone .

That's a shame about his health. Not to be to blunt or offensive, but he won't have much longer with us on the forum. I hope he can post with us again. His posts were like a look into the past. Amazing to read.

Whitaker & FM are boring fights with Duran taking a UD off both.
As for the rest there all very good picks and some would be great great fights but I dont see anybody beating prime Duran @ 135

Duran vs Ike Williams would be the dream match at light weight for me, closely followed by Armstrong vs Chavez.

I think Pea is a nightmare style for Duran. Slick southpaw who had hand speed and utilized angles. I think he boxes Roberto’s ears off and wins going away. And I’m a huge Duran fan.

I’d rather see him against JCC. Wind ‘em up and let ‘em go. But I think Duran probably pulled a DeJesus III approach and surprises Chavez’s by boxing him silly for 8-10 rounds before getting aggressive and bullying him for a UD or late stoppage. Too versatile. But I’d love to see it.

I’d also like to see Duran-Arguello. I don’t think it’s AA’s best weight but it would be great to see what he could do tactically.
