I wasnt sure if he meant mental health or physical health.

In one respect he has been given the golden ticket and in others I think he has been used badly.

Agreed hanging them up is the only possible way forward.

Allen has a couple of houses now, can’t see Barker tossing him aside so I’m sure a bit of guidance will be there for him

You’re missing that Dubois is fantastic and showing early signs of being world level in a few years.

The step up was too much for Gorman but there’s no shame in that really if Dubois fulfils his promise.

Doesn’t mean Gorman is a bad fighter, just not as good as Dubois.

Pricey is probably 10/11th best heavyweight in the country and put on an absolute clinic against Allen. Allen is not going to achieve anything in the sport apart from brain damage and a couple of houses. Someone needs to remind him them houses are nothing without his health.

The tweet read like it was written by someone who wasn’t in a good way. It doesn’t really make sense. Not surprising though as he took plenty of punishment.

I can’t see him retiring - he always suggests he’s going to after a loss.

I like Dave, but surely now is the time to give it up. With his personality he could do a podcast or some punditry

You dont think that him continuing to fight on and absorbing punishment, is a health issue for him? He is being over matched too.

He isnt in reality anything more than around top 10 at British level, but has been thrown in and taken bombs off some world class opposition. That isnt healthy.

Yoka, Ortiz and Whyte were way way above his level and beat him up badly.

He was seeing 5 David Price's last night, and Pricey isnt even European level just near the top of the British HWs

He’s nowhere near British level. Price is probably 11th. And absolutely schooled him.

    Yeah, I notice that too.
Some of the ones saying "he was overmatched", "he's been handled badly" were saying he was going to KO Price !

I said he was going to KO Price too. The fight was not a mismatch on paper. Price has been a low level fighter for years now. It was a legitimate fight to make. Allen failed the test and took a beating. Price did better than most expected.
    That's boxing.

I was under the impression Allen doesn’t drink? Swear he’s said it loads in interviews etc over the years. Time to hang them up though now, doubt he will though, like someone else posted he seems to do this after every loss saying he’s retiring and then Eddie rolls him out again to keep the Lad Bible mob entertained. Very sad because he’s clearly a very fragile character in way out of his depth.

This is a much better post the drivel you spouted previously.

Allen probably sustained his injury very early in the fight , hence why his tactics and performance were so poor.

Darren Barker was a world class fighter and I cannot imagine he would have come up with a game plan that bad.

Additionally if the rumours are true that he was in the hotel bar at 2.30 am the night before the fight then that is very unprofessional.

The problem with Allen is he does not know when to say no or enough is enough.

Allen attracts huge views on YouTube and social media. Therefore during fight week all the IFL clones are hanging around him like groupies around a rockstar. All for views and likes.

Last night at the hospital, Allen will have seen who was actually their for him and I expect that it was a very sobering reality.

Based on last nights performance, I hope he retires or drops down to the appropriate level.

He is "nowhere near British level" is going too far

Allen is objectively around 10th or 11th in the British rankings. We would take out AJ, Whyte and Fury from British rankings as they are world class.

According to boxrec the top 15 at British level are

    1. Chisora
    2. Joe Joyce
    3. Hughie Fury
    4. Dave Allen
    5. Dubois
    6. Price
    7. Gorman
    8. Sokolowski
    9. Little
    10. Wardley
    11. Dickinson
    12. Sandland
    13. Kash Ali
    14. Mark Bennett
    15. Jay McFarlane

Are you seriously telling me that Allen is "way off" being top 10

Thing is tho he's now put on social media that is health isn't what it was. It will be hard to carry on now after he's come out and said that.
I thought Dave was poor last night.
You could tell that they were waiting for price to gas but I would of thought him and barker new you had to apply pressure first. They onviously just thought pricey wasn't fit enough to move around a ring for 12 rounds essentially shadow boxing.
It's the nerves that make David gas, you have to catch him with punches and pressure him, that's what drains him.
I thought barker was poor as well but now Dave has come out with these comments it puts it a little more in perspective.
He should hang em up now
