And I don't even like him much. If you take his resumee at face value(and you have to since his PED use can't be proven definitively) Then he is now above Duran who had a somewhat similar career but had alot of embarrassing showings in-between his legendary wins where he was grossly out of shape Dejesus, Viruet, Lanolin, Buchanan, Kobayashi=< Morales Barrera Marquez Leonard, Barkley, Moore, Cuevas Palomino =< Bradley Cotto Hatton Margarita Clottey thurman and others Yes the Leonard win is better than anything else on PAC resumee and the hagler performance was great however PAC resumee has more quantity(as well as good quality) and no complete embarrassments like Duran has
Prior to this fight I said if Manny wins, I'd have no choice but to put him above my boy Duran in the ATG rankings. The way he did it last night, I'll willingly do so. Thing is when it comes to the P4P rankings, you have to consider those 5 lineal and 8 division titles that only Manny has and will perhaps be the only man to ever achieve it. Being not only relevant but legitimately beating a WW champion at 41? Damn. You have to understand the dynamics of this being at WW and not at HW. The heavier the weight, the longer you'll last. But even at HW, being this highly regarded at Manny's age is such a rarity. Quality of opponents are somewhat even, but then longetivity, you have to give it to Pac. The crazy thing is Pac ain't even done.
Although I am extremely suspicious of the chemicals he's likely putting into his body, without proof you have to credit all of his victories. So yes, he has surpassed Duran and did so a while back, imo.
lol A split decision win over an inactive Thurman moves Pac past Duran. The stuff I see on this board cracks me up.
The Sugar Ray Leonard victory from Duran is too great of a win for Pac to eclipse IMO, unless he manages to beat the likes of Crawford, Spence, and dare I say Mayweather. But that would be a stretch. Saying that, though, I respect those who rate Pac higher than Duran.
I find it absolutely amazing that people suspect Manny simply because the Mayweathers said so. Before you bring up Manny moving weight getting all these KOs please list the guys he KOd when he moved to WW. When Manny was young if you watch his early highlights you can see his punching power and speed. But wait I thought punching power is something your born with but cant attain by simply getting stronger? Also Manny gets suspected of PEDs but FlIVd gets caught diluting and showed no signs of decline till his late 30s but thats not suspicious at all. gtfoh
Beating FlIVd now wouldnt mean much if anything. Beating Crawford and Spence? I think that would surpass Durans win over Leonard considering the circumstances.
I never said anything about Mayweather, so not sure where you got that from. What I see is a guy who won a title at 112, 21 years ago, now winning a title at 147 against a prime, undefeated opponent. I don't need Mayweather to tell me that's suspicious, because automatically it is. You're also focusing too much on power. A lot of peds pertain to stamina and recovery (for training purposes), so a non-ped fighter simply will not be able to push himself in training the way he did previously. He is remarkably light on his legs for a 40-yo with 25 years of professional experience, and I find that suspect. You'll note I also said it was unproven and he deserves full credit for his wins. Without a positive test, it's just talk.
To be fair though my comment wasn't directed at you as more of a thought it gave me. Im not familiar with your posting history but you seem well thought out and I respect your opinion. The reason I mention Mayweathers because the PED stuff started with them and it has followed Manny unjustly ever since. I didn't see anyone questioning Bernard Hopkins beating top level fighters into his 40s and I didnt hear it about FlIVd when he was showing no signs of decline in his mid and late 30s. But every time Manny has a big win its the PED talk. Its lame imo.
