Agree, you can’t hide having a headache IMO if you’re a professional athlete. Those of here who box - imagine doing a hard session with a headache. You can’t hide the effects of that.
I think he needs the validation because he’s so unstable. He’s been taken advantage of. What I’m saying in this thread isn’t to criticise him it’s for his own health. He’s just not a boxer and there’s more to life than a few big purses. I hope he comes out of it now, has got himself a few properties to kick back and gets the all clear from the doctors and enjoys a new life doing podcasts/reality tv.
He has laid the foundations. He has three properties in Doncaster which could give him a modest income for a long time.
He is clearly not stable, when you are winning everyone wants to know you and be a part of you. When you are losing, it is normally a fairly empty place. Someone with his fragility will really struggle unless good people support him.
Good to hear. Nothing wrong with been in the property game. If he has been able to buy them mortgage free then good for him.
Think that would be unlikely even up north but if he can rent them out they’ll obviously pay for himself. As others have hinted I think the biggest worry is how he will keep himself busy and content without fighting. As a boxing fan I absolutely wouldn’t want to see him land a pity job as a pundit on Sky but I can see it happening.
I also said this before the Price fight. Total lunacy no matter what the outcome last night. I actually tipped Allen to beat Price because of his granite chin and Price's awful gas tank. I thought it was an easy pick tbh. We all knew Price would outbox him early and land bombs but I thought Allen would hang on and Price would completely gas as he has done time and time again. It goes to show how bad Allen is that Pricey's stamina held up due to the slow pace of the fight. Allen brought zero heat. While Allen had a slim chance last night because of Price's awful stamina, how on earth was anyone giving him a chance against Povetkin? How did Hearn envisage that fight going? Seriously! If Povetkin gave Allen ten free shots he'd remain upright and it's not long ago Povetkin was getting the better of AJ for half a fight. Povetkin is a lot more hurtful than Ortiz and would've battered Allen from round one until someone stepped in. There is no other possible scenario for that fight and Hearn knows it but he only cares about money. Allen/Ortiz, Brook/Golovkin, Crolla/Lomachenko, Allen/Povetkin. I think that's extremely reckless from Hearn and I say that with genuine concern for the fighters.
Give me Allen commentating on sky over Nelson, Bellew, Smith and Froch. I actually think Allen would do a decent job. His tweets are attention seeking but he generally talks the game well and isn't afraid to upset people.
I don’t see how he gets a license after them confessions tonight about headaches and general health deterioration.
