What an amazing fight, the understimated Dillian Whyte just keeps on delivering that W... and I just keep smiling! I love it. I ****ing love seeing fans, haters, teams, camps get proved wrong. I am sure Rivas and his team had a solid gameplan, and they just like Parker and Chisora's team go home completely taken by suprise.

They all knew Dillian had some strong qualities on him, but they were all overconfident in their ability to beat Dillian on fight night that they are genuinely suprised by Whyte's abilties. Rivas trainer was quite vocal! Just like in the Jennings fight when they fired him up to KO Jennings...

At least part of Rivas game plan was working great, he avoided that left hook from Whyte all night in amazing fashion... while Parker, Fury and many others are good at stepping in/out of range with their head movement, Rivas is able to dip his entire Mr Olympia frame in and out of range at will. Very mobile for his size. EXCELLENT timing, and reading of shots.

But his toughness surprised the hell out of me, and I am sure it surprised the hell out of Dillian, that man is as tough as they come... the man Dave Allen should have been? Granite chin, T-800 Terminator durability on his body. He clearly didn't like getting hit by Whyte, and it did stun him, but he just wanted more!!!!!!!

That Colombian gangster, ride or die mentality of Rivas, to just bite down on his gum shield and ask for more.

I pray for any man that steps in with Rivas, because that man is a tough night's work. I am really impressed after his bout with Whyte. Prior to the fight, I thought he would quit from the damage, but he just stuck in there and gave it his all.

Credit to Rivas, definitely worthy of top ten.

**** Kownacki and all these other fringe contenders everyone raves about, Rivas is here to make noise with the top 10.

I don't see it. He looked pretty limited to me. Sort of like a poor man's Ray Mercer - solid chin, decent power, but nothing spectacular. In addition, he looked kind of muscle-bound to me and seemed to not have particularly good stamina.

I think Whyte's stock went up actually. He won against another quality fighter, and did it fair and square.

The fight wasn't easy surely, but Whyte IMO improved his defense, and I rate this as the best Whyte's pefrformance so far.

You will be hard pressed to fight a Heavyweight of that height or thereabouts who doesn't gas going 12 rounds at that level of intensity, and that level of comptetiveness. IT SIMPLY DOES NOT EXIST.

Rivas is 240 pounds @ 6 FOOT , mostly muscle, little fat, pushing the pace for 12 rounds and he did it PERFECTLY, not more could be asked, and Mike Tyson showed little more stamina than that. Bring your standard back down to reality.

These are human beings, not Supersaiyans or Kryptonians.

It may seem on the surface that Rivas is not multi dimensional, but Boxing is a game of milliseconds, and centimeters... and Rivas does the simple things very effectively. Gauging range, snappy timing, foot positioning. He avoided the left hook ALL DAY, clearly part of his game plan.

I'd back Rivas to beat quite a few top tens and top fifteens.

Of course Whyte's stock went up. He won that fight in very convincing fashion, against a credible opponent with 197 more amateur fights than Dillian.

That was a remarkable performance by Whyte, but Rivas needs his limelight too - because he showed up, and he gave it EVERYTHING, when we've seen fighters do much less these days.

Whyte landed shots that would have made MOST credible heavies today, quit.

This. All of that excess muscle slowed Rivas down.

That's not how I saw it. To me, Rivas stood right in front of Whyte after ponderously walking him down and reacted once the punches were thrown which makes me think he wasn't reading Whyte well at all, who to be fair did a good job of varying his jab. He has decent head movement - when he remembered to use it - but his footwork was nearly always reactive as if he wasn't picking up on Whyte's triggers at all.

Tough dude though, I agree with that and, therefore, a very solid win.

I think Rivas' stock is much the same as it was before the contest, while Whyte's stock went up against what was billed as a dangerous test for him. As mandatory challenger, hopefully he isn't mucked around and made to wait another 600 days for his rightful shot at the WBC champion.

If what you said was true, Whyte would have landed his left hook and dropped Rivas... but that didnt happen. Watch the fight again when you are sober, and you will see Rivas' handy work in avoiding the hook, and taking himself out of range,.

How do you think Rivas fares against the rest of the top ten?

    I guess I don’t see it.

Rivas’ only gold star on his resume was a come-from-behind KO of a shopworn Jennings who got taken out after pretty much having his way with him.

Rivas looks like a one-gear guy, a one-trick plod-ahead pony. Tough? Absolutely. Resolved? Yes. But that’s really all he is. I expect he’ll lose to someone else soon enough and that will be held up as some huge win and then it will happen a time or two again and we’ll see his level. And yes he’ll probably upset one or two people along the way, but it will always be an upset.

Whyte did what he should do, but I don’t consider this a great win. Nor do I consider beating journeyman Chisora to be that big a deal ... enough have done it now that it’s not a badge of honor to do so.

Mostly Whyte has prevailed consistently over B-level guys. You can argue Parker is a really good win but he had some referring help in that one. So Whyte is either an A-level guy who continues to mostly struggle with B-level opposition while defeating them or he’s at the top of the B class.

Good win? Sure. Great win? No way.

So who do you back Rivas to win against or lose against in the top ten?

I think Rivas has a decent shot at getting by Ortiz, and maybe Pulev and Parker. The rest would all beat him IMO.

Chisora vs Rivas would be a good fight to make in the near future.

Well this is what I mean by stock going up, I doubt many posters would have utters these words prior to the Whyte bout with enough bass in their voice.... but I am not saying Rivas is top 5, just that he has certainly gained ranking after that bout... because Whyte showed up in top form and we all know how hard he hits.

I can recall big John Fury saying in one video, if anyone over 15 stone can land clean, they can do damage.
