what you fail to realize is that those quaities when combiined, are used in order to enable boxers to outscore the other opponent

What you do not understand is the quantity of blows landed is only THE deciding factor in amateur bouts. You really do need to follow a different sport if this very basic well understood concept is beyond you.

The controversy surrounding this fight...takes away from what i think is a really good entertaining fight...regardless of who you think won

You’re a funny guy. It’s subjective, sure, but a jab that is basically a tap does not equal a right or a hook that turns the head.

You do realize the game is scored by rounds? So if we fight and I land 100 punches and you land 90, but you landed more clean, effective, scoring punches in 7 of 10 rounds ... you win the fight (presuming no knockdowns or 10-8 rounds).

The first round of a fight where nothing happens — say fighter A lands a couple of sharp 1-2 combos and the other guy just lands four tapping jabs — counts as much as one where a guy has a more commanding edge as long as they’re both 10-9 rounds.

But you ... you already knew that.

By all means, Rooster, keep counting. But if you really think Hagler won, doesn’t that take away something from your boy Terry Norris’ win over Leonard?

Of course there’s lots of ways to win a fight. Ask Luis Santana.

He broke down a 48 minute fight into a 15 minute highlight reel for Hagler.... Enuff said. Just his agenda.

No Leonard used the flurry tactic at the end of rounds but he did that in close hard fought rounds to gain an edge. That's fair IMO.

DelaHoya was the one I had a problem with. He wouldn't fight for 2:45 seconds throw those little flurries and Jim Lamply would wet himself. That was abusing the tactic.

He beat Leonard ass who was better than Hearns. In the same time span between starting career. Duran beat Leonard 67-80. . 77-91 Leonard is wiped across the canvass by Norris. Why is Leonard given the old washed up tag but Duran isn't?

I still have Hagler ahead by two points, but can easily see how it could have gone to SRL. I love both fighters a lot.

Sure he won and by quite a wide margin.

the dispute has been settled, no matter how it galls the blood

Leonard, who loses only to the best, was still a force throughout the 1980s, and did a lot for the sport

naturally, he's going to highlight just the scoring into focus, otherwise, people like you might get distracted by all that running

if that's the case, then Willie Pep should have lost most of his bouts

Again you have no idea of the basics. Study up as your incompetence is striking.

I'm well beyond the basics, which you're still trying to master after 30 years
