there you blowing smoke up your own ass. youre an insecure little boy, what could you possibly say that would hurt a grown mans feelings? youre not the only one around here who ties his own self worth to that of a particular fighter, it stems from insecurity about their own self worth. things like this used to be obvious and didnt need pointing out.

I don’t go around on message boards crying and calling myself a “grown man.” If I really wanted to upset you, I’d show you what my business account and investment accounts look like.

    https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/14970037/ranking-top-25-pound-pound-boxers-25-years

THE RING decided to ask some of the most knowledgeable boxing historians and writers to give us their opinions in the form of a poll. Specifically, we asked 20 of them to rank their Top 20 modern fighters pound for pound. We used the International Boxing Hall of Fame’s criterion for “modern”: Last bout no earlier than 1943.

Of course, that eliminates a lot of great fighters who fought before 1943 but we felt that comparing fighters from the same or adjacent eras is difficult enough. To compare boxers who might’ve fought a century or more apart is fun but, we believed, less meaningful.

To be clear, we instructed each of the participants to at least consider active fighters or recently retired ones, as we wanted every boxer who has fought since World War II to be in the pool of candidates.

We awarded points based on the voting – 20 points for a first-place vote, 19 for a second-place vote and so on.

    1. Sugar Ray Robinson - 396 - (17)
    2. Henry Armstrong - 339 - (1)
    3. Muhammad Ali - 324 - (1)
    4. Roberto Duran - 296
    5. Joe Louis - 293
    6. Ray Leonard - 258
    7. Willie Pep - 246 - (1)
    8. Archie Moore - 189
    9. Julio Cesar Chavez - 171
    10. Ezzard Charles - 164
    11. Pernell Whitaker - 132
    12. Floyd Mayweather Jr - 118
    13. Marvin Hagler - 117
    14. Carlos Monzon - 98
    15. Eder Jofre - 86
    16. Sandy Saddler - 82
    17. Roy Jones Jr - 80
    18. Rocky Marciano - 77
    19. Bernard Hopkins - 66
    20. Ike Williams - 55

Pac not even ranked I rest my case:deal: beating Thurman is not going to jump you up that many spots when you also lost to PBF H2H and lost to Horn. This poll was done before PBF-Pac I might add so PBF would have moved up atleast 1 or 2 spots or more with his win over Pac alone.

I bet if they did that poll now you'd get a different list probably with Pac included. P4P lists are fickle, look what Pac has accomplished since then, since Floyd retired. Back when that poll was done the KO loss to Marquez and the loss to Floyd was fresh in everybody's minds. This win over Thurman is massive for legacy.

Yes he would be on the list but it wouldn't put him above PBF on that list. He lost to PBF and Horn since this list has been put out. He did beat Thurman so that would help him.

True but most people thought he beat Horn. Also his wins over Vargas, Matthysse and Broner. These are big wins for a guy in his late 30s early 40s. Floyd didn't have these kind of wins at that age.

You're right he just beat Pac the man in this discussion with ease while older than Pac was. BTW Lucas was shot and Broner was checked out and hasn't been the same since another PBF victim Maidana took his 0 and soul. Berto is a better win than both of them. Thurman is a good win I will give that to him. BTW he officially lost to Horn and still has those problems, he should look to rematch Horn and avenge the loss. That's a much more winnable fight than Spence will be.

Of course Floyd's win over Pac looks great on paper, but it was a very disappointing and boring fight. Neither fighter was at their best. Pacquiao was injured, Floyd was dehydrated, etc. You're quick to call Lucas shot or Broner checked out but when it comes to Pacquiao's condition when he fought Floyd you ignore it. Frankly I thought Lucas looked pretty good in his two fights before he fought Pac, but I didn't think he looked as good against Pacquiao. AB may not have been the same since Maidana, but that was a long long time ago. He was super motivated to beat Pacquiao, and the way Pacquiao dominated him was impressive. Of course AB was being super defensive, which had a lot to do with how one sided it was.

Personally I don't have a strong opinion about who won Pac Horn, same regarding Pac Bradley 1. I've stated that I thought Bradley did a lot better vs Pac the first time than many give him credit for, so I didn't claim Pac was robbed, but at the same time I recognize that Pac landed a lot of good shots on Bradley and get why many consider it a robbery. (though I do think HBO's pro-Pacquiao bias had a lot to do with the outrage and robbery cries) Berto was a solid win, I think Matthysse was a better win than that personally, he's a much more dangerous puncher than Berto but Berto might be a little harder to hit.

Pac checked he was healthy on the NSAC form he said he was so I don't want to hear about excuses. Pac's shoulder even though he threw punches with both arms was never going to give him the ability do deal with PBF controlling range and dictating distance on him. Pac has no answer for it that's why he can never beat PBF. Those angles and all that turning he did to Thurman doesn't work against PBF he's too good he takes people apart and makes them look average.
Lucas has been basically done since he hurt his eye. Postol exposed that years ago when he dominated and stopped Lucas. Lucas has been damaged goods since Garcia beat him. Broner is a salesman and a **** talker he doesn't even believe his own hype saying he thought he won against Pac that right there proves to you that he will say anything to be heard. Broner is checked out of boxing he's only in it for the money now. Maidana ruined him and took his confidence and he hasn't been the same since

Roach has always been a guy that LOVES media attention and will say certain things depending on who's interviewing him. He's come out and said he likes Malignaggi, Broner, and he's called Floyd a friend. With Pac living in the Philippines 10 months out of the year, Roach has to stay in the spotlight somehow. I wouldn't say that he's two-faced, but he's not as loyal to Pac as people think he is. That's why he made that comment about Ariza despite it hurting Pac. Roach is selfish.

This term really needs to die. Nobody ever said it until Floyd did and it makes zero sense considering many fighters have common opponents. Fighting someone who someone else fought is and should not be a slight to any fighter. If not, Floyd has fought over 40 other guys leftovers.

He said MIGHT. That's not totally unbelievable. Didn't DLH beat Whitaker? Whitaker is a true ATG but he's human.
It's not like he said he could beat Whitaker.

I don't know if that poster is a troll, but that specific point is actually fair. The most annoying thing about the boxing community (here I'm adding retired boxers, trainers, commentators, basically anyone with knowledge who has something to say) is that almost everyone speaks about boxing history in a way that enhances their own legacy or identity.
