I think you’re spot on. I don’t know his home life situation but if he is single then he needs to get a woman. That will settle him down, give him some stability and then have a child and give him some (other) purpose in life.
His problems will be interdependent of one another, a change of environment, lifestyle and surrounding himself with good people will remove the cause and change the effect. Allen is currently looking for validation on social media from people who for the most part either have more fingers than brain cells or have their own agenda. The time has come for him to stop being Mr. Nice guy and start putting first things first, otherwise as to the OP said this will end in tragedy. It's clear to see that he enjoys the pain, almost like he feels he deserves it and he is wearing his injuries from the Price fight like some kind of badge of honor.
Dave Allen's main problem (health wise) is his main attribute boxing wise - his chin. The problem that he doesn't go down after being flush 5,10,15 20 times. He takes a sustained beating over many rounds - horrendous for long term health.
Boxers that are no good tend to get exposed by being knocked out in seconds. Just like a fat kid loves cake, Allen absorbs headshots from top-class heavyweight fighters, therein lies the difference. A fat kid does not get fat overnight, it happens one bite at a time over a period of time. You only have to look on youtube at the last 6-7 fights that Freddie Roach had to see how damage is inflicted. Due to the fact, Allen sells tickets and is a name there will always be a promoter willing to overmatch him.
LOL This thread got weird. Boxing fans talking like they Dave Allen's mother or older sister. "I wish Dave would find himself a good woman", "He needs some stability", "A child, a home, family life" The only advice I'd give him is learn to slip punches or find another job.
Agreed. I can't see him taking to retirement very easily. Reminds me of Fury in that way. He seems to need the stability and routine of training otherwise he goes off the rails. Problem is that he isn't a fantastic boxer like Fury and the damage will catch up with him eventually. I know he and Fury get on so perhaps Tyson may help him out in some way.
Spot on. Ted cheeseman is another fighter with similar mental health issues and he said the same with him in the Garcia fight, he was fighting like he deserved the punishment. Can’t underestimate that if you’re going into that ring, you’re mind has to be 100% on the job and you shouldn’t be in there if not as it’s a dangerous sport.
Yes the British forum has taken a bit of a funny turn of late with people talking about shocking behaviour and now Dave Allen lacking stability in his life lol. What next?
Agreed it has gone slightly off topic. But a lot of people don't want to see him becoming an actual corpse
Well, as predicted - Allen has just said on his Instagram that he's definitely boxing again. Just hope if he does that it's to the right level.
Unfortunately boxing needs durable losers. I'd advise them all to quit - or learn to slip punches. But realistically many of them will keep coming back for the money and their moment under the lights.
