Best roadwork to flatten out aroudn the midsection

    What to u think about a slow run for 50 mins to an hour everyday as well as a good diet as a means of just dropping fat and getting leaner.

    Ive heard this is the best way to just lean out and drop fat. What you guy think?

    Long runs burn fat the moment you run, sprints burn fat after you're done. It's quite logical when you look at the energy systems involved. Some say sprints are more efficient, some say long runs are. I think it's best to mix them up, let nature sort it out.

    yeah i guess, i suppose like jog 4 times a week with sprints twice a week would be good and help your ring fitness alot more too although im not worrying about taht much right now because the seasons over.

    Or just throw in some sprints on your long run... Itll get yah home faster too!

    yeah run and run a lot and i have seen a thinner waist lighterscales and more stamina in the ring work hard

    Long slow distance is clearly overrated, and is now rarely used by Olympic athletes. Cut the time, pick up the speed, will get you better results. It will be even better if you switch to intervals.

    HIIT training is the most effective for losing weight in my opinion. Helped me lose the little body fat I had left covering my lower abs

    I agree. 50min to an hour is a long way from long slow distance though - in my experience runners usually use that phrase to describe 3hr+ runs.

    I think a 50min to 1hr tempo run is a great session. If you can't manage it at a good pace then yeah, cut the time but keep the pace.

    Can you explain about HIIT training? I hear that method a lot but dont really know what it is. Been wanting to change my roadwork routine for some time now

    Distance running burns muscle and fat. HIIT burns fat while maitaining (or burning very little) muscle.

    Depends what you want.

    It Basically consists of High intensity activity for a short period of time followed by an even shorter rest period. Repeat.

    You can pump these sessions out in no time at all and are many time more effective at conditioning and helping fat loss then LSD or long slow distance. Now, that's not to say long distance running is bad, in fact, I do both, but you can't beat how good HIIT training really is.

    That's the exact one I used. Works very well.

    mon/wed/fr: Aerobic (45 Minute Run, long distance cycling)
    tue/thu/sat: Anaerobic (sprint, jump-rope intervals, tabatas)
    sunday: Rest

    Diet is very important too.

    A lot of articles swear up and down that diet is most important, then cardio. "Great abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym" is sometimes said.

    I say those both fall behind to the first factor, genetics.

    I just switched to that. I had been doing 20 minutes or so of steadily increasing pace and then 20 minutes of two-minute intervals on the cross-trainer, but my heart rate wasn't high enough. It was in the 140s and 150s, but every website I went to about H.I.I.T. said to be in the 170s.

    I just switched it up two days ago. My legs are very sore.
