This 100%. I have Langford at 3 p4p and he has a case for being number one best resume in boxing for me but people are crazy to think he walks through Wilder. He'd be giving up a foot in height 9" in reach and 40 odd lbs. That a lot to give up. Plus Wilder isn't as unskilled as many claim and possibly one of the hardest hitter ever. Also honestly Langford doesn't look good on film, sure its terrible quality but he doesn't look good.
Firpo is quite possibly the worst example you could give to prove a point about how skilled old school fighters were. Firpo makes Wilder look like Pernell Whitaker with his sloppiness.
Yes, and can he tell us which films he is watching, Langford looks impressive vs Laing and Jeannette. He knock Flynn out cold.
Deontay Wilder with modern gloves 1st round coma inducing knockout. Wilder with 4 ounce gloves. Wilder by 1st round instant murder.
Sam Langford was a guy who turned pro in the 1890's. How simple can you be if you boxing hasn't evolved over the last 100 plus years. Wilder is far more skilled than Langford. We aren't talking about historically speaking. We are talking about in reality. Sam Langford was considered skilled for that era. Compared to even somebody as unskilled as Wilder is Langford has cave man level of skills. The only people who think Langford would win are these 60 plus year old guys sitting around in their adult diapers talking about how "Back in their day" everything was better. The people at the nursing home shouldn't let them get online. Wilder isn't even close to to being the hardest puncher in boxing history. He isn't even a harder puncher than guys like Bermaine Stiverne. Chris Arreola fought Wilder and Stiverne and stated this. Not only did he state this Stiverne actually legit stopped him while Wilder couldn't. In any case Wilder would knock out 170 pound tomato can Langford quicker than Mike Tyson knocked out Michael Spinks.
Lol actually Langford didn't beat bigger men all the time and when he did beat bigger men none of them were modern skilled and modernly athletic like Deontay Wilder is.
These guys fought like two drunk old guys. But hey because they Wills was considered good back then then it clearly means he would be considered world class today.
Something else these people on the Classic forum don't have the intelligence to realize. Boxing has evolved from the 1890's early 1900's. They love to keep saying but Wilder is unskilled. Yeah Wilder is unskilled for modern boxing standards. But if Wilder would of fought during that era he would of been considered a boxing expert. They also can't understand just because Sam Langford, Jack Johnson ect were considered skilled for the early 1900's that doesn't equate to being skilled compared to any modern fighters. Then you add the fact these can't understand there are weight classes for a reason. When was the last 5'7 170-180 pound guy lke Langford the heavyweight champion. He had success back then against some guys bigger than him. It just shows how bad that era was. 100 percent of the guys fought like they were drunk guys who just picked up boxing gloves for the first time. That primitive style would never work today.
HA! again kid Langford turned pro in the 1890's. So you believe from 1890 to 1990's when Qawi fought fought Foreman boxing hasn't evolved? Get a grip kid. Also Dwight hitting Foreman with punches mean nothing. Lol Foreman dropped his hands right in front of Qawi because he didn't respect his power. He also seemed completely bored with him, Which has nothing to do with Deontay Wilder a guy who fights now fighting a 170 pound guy who turned pro over 100 years ago. The only thing interesting about his match would be when Wilder knocked Langford out would his head remain attached to his body.
