Thats his opponents median weight, without training down alot. Thats a "not trimmed down 190CW-fighter". Which means in fact Rocky did have a weight advantage against most of his opp. Wow. Nope. He´s less than 16-0 and even more untested.
Rocky weighed less than 187 for three quarters of his fights, with same-day weigh-ins. With today’s 24-hour weigh-ins, he would have been able to make 175 for at least some of his career. Btw, Ricky Hatton’s walk around weight was 185 when he fought at 147... Plenty of today’s 6-foot+ light heavies would hit 200 if they gorged on pasta and cookies between camps.
Silly very uneducated remarks. Marciano was very well tested. He proved himself as an ATG hwt champion. The 16-0 fighter is a product of the times....a highly watered down landscape where many can call themselves a champion and oh so many can call themselves a contender. Let’s see the 16-0 fighter in a real fight where he is behind, cut and hurt. Until then he is untested and unproven.
I can't get past Marciano's footwork. His feet are either too wide apart, or too close together, and when he moves to the left he moves the right foot first. Doubt he was a great puncher, people who don't have their feet under them seldom are, he fights at a slow pace. Rather than look at Marciano's film and try to find reasons that he was "great" to explain how he retired unbeaten, it would probably make more sense to look at his opponents realistically, that is probably the reason RM finished unbeaten. If RM had been 187 pounds, but quick, fought a fast pace, a crisp puncher, fundamentally sound, I could understand the hype, that's not what the video shows. This content is protected
I´d open a thread about Floyd Patterson (who looked more technically sound) going 49 - 0 or close in Rockys era. What do you think?
Its entirely possible you may never see him , "behind ,cut and hurt". Would that be to his detriment or his credit?
Pat shows AGAIN his utter incompetence. CLUELESS. “Doubts Marciano was a good puncher”. This content is protected
Aww... isn't that cute. You back up your personal accusations as well as you do your horribly lacking opinions on the sport. Congrats. Consistency is a virtue of its own.
