Just think of George Foreman's first career. After he loses to Ali he loses a fight to Jimmy Young. Mike Tyson loses toe Buster Douglas then loses to Holyfield twice and Lewis. Joe Louis is the one exception I can think of at the moment.
Right but nobody feared Joe Louis. Foreman didn't go down hill fast. He lost to Ali a Hall of Famer and the lost to Jimmy Young a fighter most people think beat Ali. Mike Tyson lost to Douglas. Won the rest of his fights including beating tough guys like Razor Ruddock and then went to jail. Came back 3 years later and then lost to Holyfield and Lewis. There is no shame in that.
Didn't Dempsey retire after his two losses to Tunney? Hearn's was just as good after he lost to Leonard. Duran was off and on after quitting in the second Leonard fight. He lost to Kirkland but rebounded to pound Cuevas and Moore. And then he was close in points to Hagler at the 12 th round.
Duran actually lost to Dejesus not long after winning the lightweight title and did rather well post Dejesus.
Yes. Only the feared oppenents have more than one loss on their record. Anybody else loses never pick up another loss for the rest of their careers
