I'm not sure how much that Price defeat will have affected Allen. For the first time he was the favourite going into a fight against a name, he appeared supremely confident in his ability and many thought his power and durability would see him through. To be on the end of such a comprehensive schooling won't have done his mental state any favours. Allen has suffered with depression and the feelings of self doubt that you can't afford to have as a boxer are likely to creep back into his head.
If as some have suggested his speech is slurring, then don't you think SKY should give him some sort of role to keep him earning. After all they and others did agree to air him in a few fights that many believed he shouldn't be in. He definitely needs to be looked after.

I didn't say anybody owed him anything, I just merely said he should be looked after. All fighters should be looked after, and if they are then it wouldn't be as you say "Littered with tragic stories".
Yeah I don't get this at all. These blokes make literal millions per fight, plus a whole host of other perks like free cars, shilled product endorsements, more women than the man in the street gets and opportunities to do well paid "an evening with" events. To quote a slightly out of context Frank Skinner when talking about celebrities who moan about fame - "They should try working 40 hrs a week in a drop forging factory. I have. Fame's better."
Does anyone want to see any more of Dave Allen's destruction? Stretchered out of his last fight and then deciding that he will fight on. Eddie and Adam in a roundabout way (pr speak) have said he should pack in. Most people here have said the same.
No he seems like a nice guy but it's entirely his choice and making fantastic money for doing so that most of us here can only dream of.

That was his chance, it's gone and I don't see it coming back, there are too many ahead of him on the queue now that will probably want a shot at it. As for the British title, no chance.
Hughie Fury with Matchroom now, that could be a fight for Allen in the near future. SKY/Hearn could justify that because Hughie isn't known as a puncher but that could actually be an even worse punishing fight for Allen.
Yea, an awful fight for Allen. If he thought Price was hard to hit....... Hughie ain't got much power at world level but he can get British level guys out of there which means a punishing twelve rounds for Dave Allen, if he doesn't pull himself out again. Allen needs to take his eyes off the better Brits and go for guys like Tom Little. If he can stay in shape and put a win streak together, he may get lucky with another winnable commonwealth shot. That's about the best he can hope for. The British heavyweight title is now a very difficult belt to win with the talent coming through.
Hughie Fury would make Allen look like a lumbering oaf. If he is to continue it has to be against the types of fighters he was facing prior to Price, anything above that and it's game over again and another episode on social media.
Yep that's pretty much it. He'll do well to get another shot at it. Don't see why he can't fight Tom Little for the English title or something.
