Understand those favouring Monzon, especially in a first fight. I still can't see the first two fights going any other way!

Hagler couldn't deal with fighters who were adept at boxing and using the ring effectively. Monzon was one of the best at controlling distance with the jab and nullifying any unnecessary exchanges. Hagler would have to get in close, but I just cant see him forcing the action enough to trouble Monzon. Although Hagler could hold his own on the inside, he wasn't as effective at pressuring and cutting the ring off. Unlike Hearns, Monzon had the chin and the stamina to fluster haggler and win a competitive but clear UD

Well, I don't think Monzon's style is exactly great for Hagler, but when you say he couldn't deal with boxers, who do you mean exactly, Leonard?

He did struggle with Leonard, but it was a close fight. Ill im saying is he struggled against fighters who boxed him like leonard, duran and Geraldo. Hagler looked most dominant against brawlers who came at him like Roldan, obel and hearns. Monzon was far better at controlling distance than Overblown duran, and he hit much harder than leonard at that weight. I just cant see haggler walking threw Monzon' s shots too force the action enough to trouble him.

fair play, though Hagler did like to break a hand or two with his head! I think Hagler's chin was right up there with the best ever so I personally could see him walking through enough of what Monzon throws at him to be able to get at him and rough him up. Agree with others that a KO is unlikely either way but reckon Hagler has a better chance of hurting Monzon.

Haler had a good chin, he just didn't have the pressure style to do it. Hagler struggled to cut the ring on Geraldo effectively, and Monzon was far better with a more crisp jab than Geraldo. Hagler would be frustrated as Monzon could keep doing that al day until the sun went down.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Hagler in his prime always did what he had to do and did it against proper middleweights. I think the fight is close and don't see how you can definitively pick Monzon to win.

That is one of the hardest matches to predict. Monzon's long reach may keep Hagler at bay. Hagler certainly wouldn't knock Monzon out like he did Hearns.

This would be one close fight, i'd slightly favour Hagler but only by 55-45.

With these two I honestly believe even in a three-fight series it would be hard to determine a clear winner.

True, but just for the record, Monzon also always did what he had to do to win. Monzon retired with an undefeated championship reign

Marvin was a monster in his prime. He wins this.

Briscoe probably hit harder than Hagler but he definitely dented Monzon a few times

Here's a question that never gets asked in this one - how many (particularly half decent) southpaws did Carlos fight?

He stunned him for 5 seconds, than Monzon proceeded to outbox and stunn Briscoe a couple of times BTW. Hagler didn't press the action the way briscoe did nor was he willing to take 3 to 4 punch combinations just to get in. Considering he had trouble getting past Geraldo's light combos, I really doubt he could walk right through Monzon's repeated combos round after round for 15. Monzon won't wear out like chinny hearns
