If Mayweather was a heavyweight but was just as quick and fought the same way he does now, how well would he fare? Could he beat some of the top heavyweights?

No, because he'd have all the punching power of a wet turnip, and would get knocked out by a jab.

    Klitschko's jab would've hurt him.

That's like me saying if a domestic cat was the same size as a tiger, could it win in a fight?

I've often wondered: if Floyd was a 350lb kangaroo ... could he win in a dance-off against Vasil Lomachemko?

    Next thread, coming up!

That's the trouble with these pound for pound debates: they assume speed and agility for smaller fighters stays the same, but that their punching power and resilience magically increases to match the higher weight class they're fighting in. You end up creating a superhuman that no actual fighter in history can compete against. No one ever conceives of it the other way round, a heavyweight moving down to a lower weight but keeping his punching power and punch resistance intact. Think of the damage even a guy like Hughie Fury could do to a featherweight if he landed on him.

    Nice idea.

If Usyk was an AA six foot seven ex-basketballer with limited amateur background and the skills of an old woman throwing handbags at dawn would he beat a Ukranian Wilder with world class skills and a gap in his teeth?

Better question: Would his English be better?

If Andy Ruiz kept his power and everything as it is now, how would he compete at WW being 120 lbs lighter? Think about it, Mark.

Mark - even by your standards, this is a totally bizarre question.

The obvious answer to this is: if Floyd was 240lb with the same quickness he had at 140lb, there would be no more HW division because they'd all retire rather than get killed against him. End thread.

Floyd's speed at heavyweight.... Nobody would even come close to landing on him. He would rule the division with ease.

However, it is a silly debate. That's the problem with P4P match-ups. It's very far from an exact science.

The "perfect formula" to test p4p would require a stupid amound of math and science. For example if a 120 lb fighter A has reflexes of 10 ms and 120 fighter B has 9ms, for each lb put on it would have to decrease at a rate that would make sense, etc. Same with power, if the punch has a velocity of xxx and the impact of xxx lbs per sq inch, it would increase with each lb etc... bottom line, it would require someone with an absurd amount of time that also has the brains.. good luck with that

Same speed, but still 5'8 and I guess 200lbs?
He wold lose to the heavy hitters of his era. He'd have a significant reach disadvantage and his-in the-pocket counter style wouldn't be enough to keep a heavyweight honest. Floyd stays in the pocket often. A heavy would just lean on him and hammer him. Floyd isn't a big hitter, but he has enough pop to keep a welter weight honest. A heavy weight would laugh at him.

Now, if you scale up his reach and power and kept the same small guy speed, then obviously he'd be superman.
