Wilder would not be close to hitting Frazier repeatedly. Wilder does not have the accuracy of Ali, and he actually has a lower punch output. Frazier's style also means wilder cannot fully extend if he gets close, which he would.
Fair. Joe got up. Always. Bruce was his 2nd Pro fight. Bonavena was his 12th and first step into the World scene. Joe won both. Foreman might be the hardest puncher ever. Arguably the physically strongest heavyweight ever. Wilder wouldn't be closing any gaps. There wouldn't be any. I don't think WIlder is going to be strong enough to push Joe off like Foreman. I don't think he is technically profecient enough to maintain the distance on a fairly hard to hit ring cutting swarmer with excellent recovery.
I'm not sure how strong Wilder is, but I'm pretty damn sure he isn't as strong as Foreman is. I doubt his ability to push a more compact swarmer back if Frazier gets inside. I think Wilder ends up trying to punch down at Joe due to the height difference and Joe lived on getting underneath taller guys.
The accuracy of Ali? All Wilder needs is the accuracy of Bonavena, who had Joe down twice early. (LOL) Or the accuracy of Ron Stander, who couldn't miss Joe Frazier with a punch. Don't act like Joe was so difficult to land on. Ron Stander matched Frazier punch for punch until Ron's face fell apart, and Stander was a joke. The "take two punches to land one" strategy of Frazier would be the end of him against Wilder.
This content is protected Stander got pieced up. **** happens when you fight in the pocket like that, but Joe really did an excellent job of slipping and rolling the vast majority of what Stander threw. Joe showed a ton of great angles as Stander waded in, and his uppercut worked very well with that left hook here. If Wilder did this with Frazier, Joe Ko's him 9/10 fights.
Hard to hit Joe Frazier? Um, who had a hard time hitting Joe Frazier, ever? Manuel Ramos? Ron Stander? Joe Bugner? This is what Joe looked like after Bugner, who wasn't much of a puncher at all. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3f/2a/e7/3f2ae7a01d21bfdc46ce7a0a151748c8.jpg
A ton of angles? Stander rarely missed with anything he threw. And why on earth would Wilder do that with Joe Frazier? Wilder is nearly a foot taller than Joe Frazier and doesn't fight anyone like that. You think Wilder would fight Frazier like Ron Stander did? Jesus. Watch Hearns-Duran. That's what a Wilder-Frazier fight would look like. Joe eating right hands until his corner was lifting him off the deck.
Look mate, I have actual work to do tonight. As much as I love arguing, and watching Joe Frazier **** people up, your man has a book to write. To be continued. Take it easy homie.
As complete a history of the heavyweight championship as me @BitPlayerVesti @GlaukosTheHammer and @Senya13 can scrounge together.I'm about halfway through Jem Belcher right now.
I don't think any Joe besides night of the FOTC could have taken the right hand. Deontay hits too hard for Joe.
How did he knock him out? What set up the KO? Foreman showed something that Wilder HAS never shown in a boxing ring. Ali didn't out box Frazier, if you watched any of those fights ( Obviously you dont seem to have done) When Ali tried to Outbox Frazier Frazier would repeatedly trap and nail him (Ali) . Not one fighter considered to be a great "Boxer" The Ellis, and Mathis's of that era, lasted very long against prime Frazier. Frazier again was excellent at cutting off the ring(possibly best ever) and setting traps. Frazier also for such an aggressive fighter, rarely got nailed cleanly especially when considering how aggressive he was. Just to say Foreman ko'ed Frazier doesn't explain what set the Ko up. To say Ali "Outboxed" Frazier, is a very limited view of those 3 fights. And tells me something about your understanding about what that took.
