Lol. You think that Wilder spiked their tests so that they would fail them? You think he was responsible for Whyte failing his test as well so he wouldn’t have to fight him either?

The point is that Wilder fought smaller fighters than Schmeling who weren't anything special. My example isn't an exception, he fought quite a few fighters over 7 inches shorter than him. None of them was close to Schmeling in terms of ability, so why would it be so ridiculous to match them up?

Baer was poor defensively. Had ****-poor fundamentals and a reckless attitude, and as a result ate plenty of punches he shouldn't have. His defensive reflexes weren't anything special either. You don't need to be creative or highly skilled to land on someone like that when you have Wilder's speed and reach. His pull-back approach would be catastrophic against Wilder's speed, length, and power.

Are you saying that Wilder's defense is brilliant and nuanced?

This is basically coming down to who has the best chin!

My original point was just that whatever classic boxing fans think of Max Schmeling, in the real world, Wilder wouldn't get any respect for beating up a 6' 185-lb opponent. It wasn't meant to be a knock on Schmeling, even though I think he's become highly overrated head to head.

No but Wilder as the longer fighter with the straighter punches gets the first crack. With Wilders killer instinct I don;t think Baer recovers.

At the beginning of Carnera fight, he showed a lot of interesting defensive moves. Then he realized that Carnera couldn't hurt him so he abandoned it. Of course, Baer was bad defensively. Not as bad as some here believe, but he's easy to hit. He's extremely dangerous though and he could find the target with his OH right very quickly. I think that Wilder would take his punches worse than Baer would Wilder's.

The best Baer, motivated and healthy one would be very dangerous fighter for Wilder. Probably the most dangerous in his career. At least his stamina wouldn't he as poor as Ortiz and his punches would be much more dangerous than Fury's.

For me it'd be possibly his best win. I also think that Max would fight at higher weight against Wilder but that's different debate.

Assuming that one Wilder punch would hurt him. It's far from a given, also Baer was dangerous fighter when hurt. He always fought back. Wilder is very sloppy when he has hurt oppinent in front of him. That would really hurt him here.

Not to mention that sometimes fighters with shorter reaches and less straight punches land firstm

No. I think he used the tests to postpone or avoid matches and only takes them when his opponent is old.

I also think Wilder benefited from judges and the ref vs his two best opponents. Hmmmmm....

As for the drug tests, it’s odd how Wilder opponents keep failing them.

Some fighters are just protected by their organization. I’m not sure if Wilder is one of them or not.

Deontay's power speaks for itself I think. Only person I think could take that power is Old Foreman.

I have Baer on the same level in terms of durability. Nobody took so many clean punches as well as him.

You think old Foreman would have been stopped in 4 by Joe Louis? I seriously disagree with your ability to rate that.
