I got into boxing in September when a friend invited me to a Canelo/GGG watch party. Started collecting scorecards in January. I have 108 right now (I only save my scorecard if the fight goes the distance). I have a good understanding of modern boxing and now I want to get into the history and the classics. I've seen all of the fights that the Fab 4 had amongst themselves but that's about as far back as I go. I appreciate any fight recommendations y'all give me

All of them, really. It's a bummer but no one era outweighs another and despite the overwhelming obsession with heavyweights, as far as boxing history goes, no weight outweighs another.

It would be very very cool to organise a Historical Imperative list though...identify the keystone fighter for every 5 years or so. Not the greatest or the best, just the one through whom you could best understand the crucial factors from the era.

Glad to see you enjoying boxing.

If you want to find interesting fights I'd say the best ways things to do are
    1. Read through the fight of the week threads I'd recommend Hagler vs Leonard to see how score rounds, here's the best place to get them allhttps://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/fight-of-the-week-listing.622448/
    2. Read through people's favourite fighters and watch there biggest fights, that should get loads in there. Thread for that.https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/your-3-favorite-fights-from-your-favorite-fighter.631189/
    3. Watch some fights known for being great, FOTC, Duran vs Leonard 1, Gatti vs Ward, Marquez vs Pacquiao 1-3.
That's it really. I'm sure there's plenty of guys that could give you a list of hard fights to score. I'll sit on it before I put one up but @Pat M took part in the old series, he may if he has the time.

What kind of fights are you looking for? Important fights? Entertaining fights? Fights that show a master at the height of his powers? Are you partial to any styles of fighters or types of fights?

Start from the Heavyweights and work your way down the divisions.

I won't bother you with any lists, and it's more fun for you to make up your own anyway. Getting into boxing is like following the branches of a tree, it'll lead you here and there and diverge in both expected and unexpected directions and who knows which of these directions appeals to you most.

    Just go climb the tree.

Norris DID make the impossible look easy, it's true. Never saw anyone pole-axed by a jab quite like him.
