I think Carnera is probably better than he's given credit for being; and I think Bowe is worse. Bowe still gets my vote without question, though.
Primo was a gimmick at the time because of the MOB. They came off like the Mob! He was not a legitimate champion. Not saying that he didn't go into gym and work at it. They taught him how to jab and then the fundamentals to make it look good enough, sort of. I don't believe his title-winning effort against Jack Sharkey was on the up-and-up. It was the bad old days when the mafia had more power than they do certainly today. It wasn't just that era. The mob went on to have power over the managers guild into the 50s Frankie Carbo (Mr.Gray) Mr. Blinky Palermo much control over fighters in subsequent years 1940s. Ray Robinson talks about it in his book by Dave Anderson. Just saying the mob was a real thing it was a thing. I'm not making this stuff up.
