Whyte, Ruiz and Joshua: Rematch clauses

Ruiz has a lot of value, that’s why he’s being paid more than any other heavyweight in the world bar Joshua.

Joshua picked up $35mil for the first fight and Ruiz/Miller weren’t household names. His pulling power is absolutely immense. Worldwide, clearly. So I think he would be in for a hefty pay day no matter who he fought.

 

@Aydamn liking my post has reminded me. Dillian Whyte a combination of 1.2 million buys over 3 fights with no title on the line, just good fights.

You don’t need a belt, Fury doesn’t have one either at the moment and I’m sure he’d do huge numbers in the U.K. against a good name.

 

Exactly, and of course the impressive almost 300K PPV against unknown Rivas.

So I was there backing Whyte when he turned down certain fights, like Joshua and not going after Usyk... when belts aren't the be all end all, and it's important take other types of value from a fight, like ranking, money, mandatory shot to make the bigger fights more lucractive down the line.

It's just business planning. Simple, all these guys are brave enough to fight on any given day.

Okay so if Canelo had lost the titles to Fielding and a rematch was not made. Instead a Title-less Canelo v Golovkin is what people would be interested in. Are you sure about that ?

So if Ruiz was to get injured or pull out of the AJ Fight, where does AJ goes from their ? Will the Arabs still pay a reported 33M Site fee for Joshua versus anyone not Ruiz ?

That’s UK Specific though. We know that in the UK mediocrity sells. Hence the likes of Whyte, Bellew, Campbell, Haye, Quigg are/we’re on PPV. Even Hearn admitted this once during the Jack-De Gale press conference in 2017. Think about it, you think garbage like Haye-Bellew would sell in the US or other markets ? I don’t even think Haye-Bellew was on US TV.

That’s why Hearn struggles when outside the UK, in the UK you can sell garbage and get away with it, because the demand for high level boxing outstrips the supply. While in international markets like the U.S it’s the opposite.

You’re saying the Arabs would pay a 33M Site fee for Joshua v absolutely anyone. Are you deluded ? The Pot is massive because RUIZ NOT Joshua created the upset and flipped the narrative. Ruiz should have the majority of the split nevermind 50%. It also serves as an incentive to the loser who just lost his belts to not make the same mistakes first time around

That’s to do with UK Fans accepting and paying for mediocrity though. You wouldn’t get away with matchups like that on PPV in the US or other countries.

Look at the key difference when it comes to the quality of US Boxing Networks and UK Networks. The vast majority of US Saturday Fight Nights and PPV Fights HAVE to be World Championship Title Fights.

On the other hand we Brits should be grateful to Eddie if we get World Title Fights on Sky Box Office

So Joshua does not fight Ruiz Next and he fights Fury instead and you believe it will crack 1.5M PPV Buys and bring in a record gate....

So Why is Joshua desperate for a rematch ? It’s not like Ruiz holds anything of importance if belts are not of value ?

It done a third of that. Do the maths and compare it to Ruiz flat fee for fighting Joshua.

Spot on. He would sell out the AT&T stadium in Texas with no problems at all against either Fury, Wilder or Joshua and would probably bank around 500k PPV buys in the US alone. That's before you dip into the boxing mad £130million Mexican PPV market. He is a massive (no pun intended) star in Mexico now who has met the president on live TV and is one win away from being single-handedly responsible for stopping Trump building his wall.

 

Of course they are, its intriguing people want to see if he can do it again.

With all the controversy of the first fight, with AJ not being right, something was wrong with him etc etc...
