Like I have absolutely no idea, you would think before doing all of this it would be in absolute concrete. I think Ruiz could be playing a blinder on this one.
A few extra million in his pocket will probably sort it. Either way it’s fascinating. Just hope the fight happens.
its similar to the messes the WBSS get into with contracts Remember when Baranchyk came out and said he wasnt fighting Josh Taylor but WBSS kept announcing the fight was on Eventually Baranchyk had to go through with the fight, because he had the contract signed. Maybe will be similar with Ruiz
I don't know about anyone else, but Ruiz is starting to Pi$$ me off recently. Hope he gets sparked out.
He’s going to lose a lot of face if a bag of money sorts him out. He’s categorically stated there that it’s not happening in Saudi. I think they’re trolling Hearn to an extent. They’ve probably said yeah to it in private and now publicly saying no. Ruiz is playing a dangerous game IMO - for both fighters. The WBO and IBF are due mandatories. They afforded an exception for the rematch but with no rematch I imagine they will get called and/or vacated.
They’ll do it behind closed doors possibly, extra dosh and certain stipulations. Hearn is the middle man here, the pressure is on him to make this happen now. Joshua has a chance to win 3 belts back, but if he lets Ruiz slip through his fingers in this deal, the belts will be fragmented in all directions.
This is bizarre. Hearn has announced the fight and done a public press conference. He's planned tours and even stadium construction. He is way down the road with this and must be pulling the hair out of his head. I hope it's sorted ASAP because I want to see the fight but something doesn't seem right at all. This is weird!
I think they key here could be a trilogy. I’m assuming if Ruiz loses there’s no rematch for him (as that wouldn’t have been thought of in the very first contract). I think if Eddie throws in the guarantee of a rematch for Ruiz that would appease him. Be worth another 10million dollars or so for him.
If it isn't all sorted soon I can see Arum and Warren getting the WBO to strip Ruiz and Fury fighting for it in December. Arum and Warren both love a WBO belt.
It will be but Ruiz will just be holding out saying what’s the worst that can happen if I pull out? Lose some of the belts and a fine? He knows AJ wants all the belts. So he’s effectively playing hardball and holding them to ransom. I don’t blame him but I assume he hasn’t got a leg to stand on legally.
