AJ is willing to travel twice but Andy won't even travel once? This is unlikable behavior from from Andy. If he truly believes he can do the job a second time then what does it matter where the venue is. This is diva duck like behavior.

    I like his style

Just following the Tyson Fury blueprint, Misses the rematch for reasons not his fault, loses belts, makes come back against uber bum, fights inhouse champion to a draw then rakes in 100 mill fighting more bums on ESPN for imaginary titles.

    Well played Andy, well played.

Come on! This isn't the first contract ever written for a voluntary titledefence.
Then what aren't you sure of is in the contract, or is extremely likely to be in there?

    The rematch clause itself... YES/NO
The stipulations about possible earnings in a return fight... YES/NO
The stipulations about who has the lead or even dictate the negotiations of such a fight... YES/NO
The stipulations about where the fight should place, or who has the most say in it... YES/NO

The IBF is the only one which would get stripped, as of now.

It seems like a bluff to me. Ruiz is exercising the only leverage he likely has, which is not to fight. If he can convince Hearn that he won't do it, then perhaps Hearn will sweeten the pot rather than have to pursue a damages award for breach.

But I doubt Hearn falls for it and Ruiz goes ahead with the fight.

    Finally someone got it.

Joshua needs to get the belts back, suing Ruiz bankrupt in court doesn't do nearly as much for Hearn as a Joshua win. So although Ruiz sabotages himself by breaking the contract, he hurts Hearn and Joshua far more. He's hoping to get a bit more leverage this way to get a bigger slice of the pie.

BTW his management clearly didn't believe in him to get him to sign a contract which gives him 10% of a rematch purse. If they did they could have got a better deal I'm sure - Hearn didn't expect the upset at all.

Announcing the fight, with a date and venue, while one of the fighters is essentially refusing to fight looks like Hearn is actually prepping for a law suit. I mean, if it’s already agreed, then there needs to be an event for Ruiz to refuse to attend. Otherwise it’s just posturing. Hopefully Ruiz isn’t stupid.

    Good on Ruiz.

I respect him sticking it to the man. He is the champ, AJ is the challenger.

AJ should be dancing to Ruiz tune not the the other way round.

Why cant they just give him a reasonable amount from the get go and then just get on with the fight. These negotiations and the, will he wont he, nonsense is cracking me up.

Apparently only Hearn and the AJ nuthuggers thought Joshua would win! It was clear as day to the rest of the world that Ruiz was going to win

He's getting something like 10% which isn't a lot, but that's what he signed to.

His actions and words are a piece of nonsense, I'm not defending it, just explaining what's happening.

Of course most people thought Joshua would win. But usually you'd expect a fighter's management to show a little more faith in their guy.

Can anyone find the source for the rumored 84 mil?

First it was said that the Saudis are looking to pay 40 mil to host the fight. Ruiz is guaranteed 9mil from that.
This leaves 31mil for the rest of the event.
No idea where the gate money goes.
No idea about the TV rights.
