Have to echo what everyone in this thread is saying. Just because Allen has an iron chin doesn’t mean he should be in at this level, he should be matched based on his ability not his chin. Just because he can take punishment and survive a full 12 with punchers doesn’t mean he should face them, If he had an average chin would this even be considered?
Allen needs to fight Gashi, Plechko, Carman types. Gassiev is way too much for him. Hope Joey Dewejko gets a fight with someone like David Price. Can see the tank schooling a lot of fighters on the blue-collar circuit if given the opportunity.
And so we go onto a third page of something that is obviously not going to happen and not only that but there is evidence from their own words its not on the cards. What a bunch of gossipy hens on here!
People post and don’t read. Happens all the time and is head doing. Watch others come in and discuss the beating he will get now.
I like David Allen and im not part of the anti-matchroom brigade (who are more pathetic than the Matchroom fanboys IMO), i have always said a fighter should be given the benefit of the doubt of a bad performance just being a bad night eg Saunders, Brook but i must say this is getting dangerous now. The board has to do something soon if dave allen said he was gonna try and win the british title i would be inclined to say ok then but he is fighting elite level fighters solely for cash and whats more dangerous is he is a tough guy with a great chin he wont go down. Something has to be done or we will have a tragedy on our hands.
Allen should be aiming for a back office job with Matchroom or Sky. Still involved in boxing but just not in the ring fighting.
I know he was well beaten by Usyk but Usyk was a phenomenal Cruiser. The way Gassiev dropped and stopped the hard as nails Dorticos is something that Allen really doesn't want to experience, and it would probably happen, which is exactly why this fight shouldn't. Allen has been stopped 3 times, he might not have been put out on the canvas yet but if he's not careful he'll end up in intensive care.
