I just think he captured a Nation after Olympics then that Vlad fight.....It always looked like he was learning on the job ,but lets face it AJ has not improved one iota in years ....He has maximized his 'talent' yo the hilt.... He is almost the opposite of Bruno .....Who would have starched AJ easily btw
I'm starting to think that with the Bruno comparisons. Frank gets badly underrated, he came from a tough era at championship level.
Bruno was always called 'stiff' but if you watch him v Lewis his jab was something AJ can only dream of.......Bruno got better and better but i see zero improvement from AJ
Another thread hi jacked by the anti-Joshua brigade. Comes across as a decent guy - hard working, KO specialist, great sportsmanship, trying to do the right thing outside the ring - charity stuff etc. So what’s the issue? Would it be better if he was a plucky loser, like Price or Allen? (... Now I understand the Hearn masterplan!) I loved Frank Bruno ... Maybe we all relate more to plucky losers? But now he’s lost he’s closer to being one of us - so no excuse to getting on board! ... & if you’re just a hater - help an old lady across the road, you might like it.
very surprised how slim he looks..How can he drop that kind of weight so quickly?? Its obviously muscle loss as there was no fat on him ever
Exactly why I can’t take to him, everything about Joshua is just fake, typical of the last few years of life in general aimed at the pc brigade and not upsetting twatter, he comes across like a robotic clone.
Totally agree. I’ve never liked him much. The Eddie Chambers incident is a big reason why, but also the way Matchroom promoted him as invincible. I remember watching Klitschko vs Fury in a pub, and someone I know who doesn’t follow boxing kept saying ‘Joshua would thrash them both’ - despite Joshua being a rookie at the time. That’s the power of their promotion. I’ve always found him to be fake.. there’s only 3 active or recently active boxers from the UK who I don’t like much.. him, Bellew and Anthony Fowler. The reasons are similar.. I find Bellew to be a big hypocrite and virtue signaller. I find Fowler to be deluded, a suck up and entitled. The overall theme is that they’ve all got elements of fakery about them.
Why do I have to get on board though? Because he’s British? That stuff doesn’t factor in on me being a fan of a fighter, couldn’t care less about being patriotic lol. Personally I don’t hate on Joshua, I give credit for what he has done, the wlad fight is a highlight, he proved a lot there, he dug deep when I didn’t believe he would. But I find I don’t root for him. I’m Sure he is a lovely bloke but who knows, he seems like fractured personality to me. I prefer fighters that are less censored, more likely to say how it is, probably why fury appeals to me more despite how frustrating he can be, at least with him you get the feeling he isn’t being governed or controlled, he says and does what he likes. In a press conference between those two, AJ would get obliterated, he has to stick to a format, he might get away with the odd “I’ll destroy him remark”.
Never liked AJ. Hyped to ridiculous levels, matched conveniently, handed a belt, fake personality. In saying all that, I believe he's a very dangerous man in the ring and I'm grateful he's around as an important component of the current exciting heavyweight scene. I'd like Ruiz to win the rematch but I could live with an AJ win. The world knows the truth about AJ now; that he's a good but vulnerable heavyweight who can be beaten on any given night. What will be will be. I just want entertainment from his career from here on in. (Before I really wanted him to lose to quell the delusion around him.)
