at my old gym, I saw this thing in the corner that looked like a overgrown peanut(speed) bag but it was heavy I asked my coach what it was , and he said a slip bag.........previous to this I thought that the two-end bag was the slip bag I never in the year I went there saw anyone use it I have also never seen any TV of fighters using it to train and I never hear anyone here talk about it? what is the deal with the slip bag
on a tyson doco he uses one. I made one for home useing sand there good to practice sliping a punch as well as hooks
LOL, please forgive me today is my first day completely off the KOOLS my brain doesnt seem to be on full speed right now
you kno wut we have in my gym we have 3 ring and in one of the ring right in the middle is a rope with a 5 pound rock ina bag tied to it its the slippin rock you push it then get that head slippin you get hit and that **** hurts like a ******* you dont wanna get hit again so the next time you slip that *****
I just made mine and put it up and worked on it 3 rounds I got a sock that smells worse than ma'amkinds batroom, filled it with gravel and hung it up and it helped me stay in stance cuz I knew something wasnt right when I was slipping right my feet were too far apart and too close to being crossed got my stance back and wa la
I used a canvas shoping bag or use somthing similar the materail should be strong so it lasts. Also use sand or fine gravel so you can punch the bag and practise upercuts and other shots, it is good to for punching when its not moving to improve your acuracy.you can spin the bag to the left or right to simulate hooks and duck as it comes around try thrown a few punches after you slip or duck
Nobody used the slip bag and your coach never showed you how to use it. Sadly this is typical modern boxing training. Young boxers today don't have time to waste on proper training because they waste too much time pumping iron. They might have big, strong muscles but they couldn't slip a punch to save their lives.
Im sure that there were some fighters that used it, but I never saw or noticed it being used but I put one up last nite and that lil son of a ***** is coming in handy, Ithink at my gym there was a lot of emphasis on sparring and heavy/speed/two end bag work thats why I was thinking maybe the two end bag had kinda replaced the slip bag as the main piece of equipment to develop head and foot movement
You should wrap it in a condom (preferably used) and watch, you'll become the next mike tyson head-movement-wise. :tong
