I might have to put up some stuff about some of Walker's heavyweight fights.

Some of them appear to have been real wars!

After Leicester City Football Club won the Premiership in the UK, the editor of Roy of the Rovers said that he would have rejected it a s a story line, because it was too implausible.

You could say exactly the same thing about Mickey Walker's career.

Nobody would think that it was plausible, if it hadn't actually happened!

Mickey Walker announced his intention to step up to heavyweight, at a ceremony where Tommy Loughran was being presented with the Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year Award, by Nat Fleischer. Loughran who had recently out boxed Walker, said that he hit harder than many of the heavyweights, and was a strong as a horse, but that his lack of stature was too big a handicap to overcome.

First to take him on was Johny Risko at Detroits Olympic Stadium, and Walker was giving up 28 lbs and 4 '' in height.

"In the second round of what was one of the most vicious fights seen here in a long time, Walker got his left hook home, and Risko crashed to the canvas in his own corner. He was on his feet at the count of eight, and managed to weather a flurry of gloves that Walker sent his way."

    Ohio Daily News

This seems to have been a real hammer and tongs fight, with both fighters trying to finish the other.

In the fifth Risko backed Walker into a corner, and hit him with with a flurry of punches, but Walker was still standing at the bell.

In the tenth and final round they threw caution to the wind, and slugged it out, receiving a standing ovation after the final bell!

Walker won a narrow decision, and Kerns announced that they wanted Stribling or Sharkey next!

Between his loss to Tommy Loughran and his draw against Jack Sharkey, Mickey Walker went undefeated in 21 fights, 16 of which were against heavyweights and light heavyweights.

When he fought Bearcat Wright he weighted 168 lbs, to the Bearcats 210 lbs. He got dropped in the first round, but came back to drop Bearcat in the second, and ultimately win the fight.

There was serious talk about matching Mickey Walker against Joe Louis at the end of his career.

It is said that only Mickey Walkers loss to Erich Seelig put a stop to the fight.

When asked about the proposed fight later in life Walker said "he might have killed me!"

From what I knew about Walker and what I've picked up in this thread alone ,im going with Mickey.
Pick s himself up from the canvas , take s the G Man s Best shots and stops him in the latter round s .

Walker by KO, he would charged into McClellan and take the reach advantage away, he has to have a little room to throw his punches, Mikckeycan fight inside or out, inside of 10 rounds, Mickey's Pressure similar to what Benn did woudl wear and tear on Gerald, as he would connect with many of his own solid punches, but by round 10, Mickey has him worn down and connects with one of his vicious left hooks he was known for, DOWN GOES McClellan!

Walker is basically unique in a pound for pound sense!

He crossed bridges that no other fighter ever did in the gloved era!
