I don't see anything that suggest Ruiz has great defense. Ruiz was on the floor against terribly fighting Joshua in early rounds. Foreman was far more dangerous than Joshua.

Frazier and Norton also were better defensively than Foreman (or Ruiz) and George destroyed them quickly.

    Lol @ Norton. Glass.

Foreman would have to go through hell against Ruiz. I seem to remember 70s Foreman having all sorts of issues with a certain durable heavyweight who threw quick, sharp punches.

So now we compare Ruiz to Ali? Good to know, so he's Ali but better because of 260 lbs.

Did Ali punch inside Foreman’s looping shots and let go with combinations after Foreman stopped throwing?

Did Ruiz do the same thing to Joshua?

Mind blowing stuff. And here you were comparing him to a 200 pounder who relied heavily on a left hook.

Ali lied on the loose ropes and took tremendous punishement to tire out Foreman. Ruiz would come right at him. Comparing Ruiz to Ali is the worst comparison I've ever seen when it comes to boxing.

I answered - Ali countered Foreman while laying on the ropes, Ruiz countered Joshua while pressuring him and slugging with him. That's not even comparable. How can't you see differences between both strategies?

To answer the question in the thread title. No. He emerges before the 3rd with Joshua's head on a #stayhumble spike

Neither Ruiz, fat and out of shape, nor Joshua, glass chined amateur, would have any chance against prime Foreman. Foreman was from a much higher class.

If you ask George Foreman today if he could've beaten AJ when he was in his prime, Foreman would probably say "Oh no.....I was too lumbering and slow....I might have taken off running to the hills before I got in the ring with AJ". Foreman sure is a humble guy.

Like many you are too easily impressed by GF.
He beat a faded version of Frazier , who turned up as an out of condition small HW and stood toe to toe with GF. Then George beat Norton who always struggled with punches. GF was then stripped of all illusion not just once or twice , but THREE times in his prime , by Ali, Lyle then Young. This was a post prime Ali who never looked great again .Lyle was no more than a good HW and Young was the same. If Young had never fought GF and was put up on here as a mythical matchup then the GF fans would be on in their droves saying GF would blast Young out of the ring.
George looked a crude amateur in many of his first 40 fights against some of the worst stiffs ever wheeled out. Ali himself spotted that GF had gas tank issues and moved like a ' mummy'.... and so he proved !
AJ has many faults but he would dwarf GF and when you take away the physical advantage I dont see what edge GF has ? It certainly ain't ringcraft and certainly not stamina . Ali , Lyle and Young decked him so why not AJ ?

Better jab, better chin, better punch, better ability to fight while hurt, better footwork.

I also don't agree that Joshua would dwarf Foreman. He's a bit taller and heavier, but he's likely not as strong. Cooney and O'Halloran were the same size as Joshua and Foreman wasn't "dwarfed" by them, he destroyed them. Of course, neither is as good as Joshua but only from physical standpoint Foreman already faced guys like Joshua. And Cooney probably hit harder than him to be honest.

Wrong. Frazier was thought unbeatable when George destroyed him. Norton was #1 contender and George obliterated him... brutal, stunning KO. His bout with Lyle actually gives his ATG status huge credibility. Coming back as he did to KO a top 5 rated contender is the stuff a fighter needs and what historians look for to determine all time greatness.

There is no shame in losing to great boxers such as Ali and Young.

I watched Foreman train live as I did Ali, Frazier, Shavers. Only Foreman put on a display of power I’ll never forget. He was a bone crunching puncher. Frightening power. With big gloves he handled a 300 pound heavy bag like it was nothing. Add to all this he was an Olympic gold medalist and a top five ATG hwt champion.
